EMERALD VILLAGE: a Dream of an Affordable Tiny House Community"Homelessness" is one terrible symptom of a disease plaguing more and more of us every day: overpriced housing. Dan Bryant, a generous pastor in Eugene, OR took this issue to heart and with the help of a vibrant community around him tried various solutions, until he finally came up with a genius idea and an absolutely gorgeous implementation! Let us take you on a virtual visit of "EMERALD VILLAGE". Nearing completion, this beautiful permanent tiny house village for the previously unhoused sets a game-changing example for communities all around the world that are trying to find compassionate solutions to their own housing crisis.

2. This is the reason I'm a Democratic Socialist
There is no reason whatsoever that everyone who needs it shouldn’t have free housing. It’s quite obvious that most of the people in this video are elderly and have had hard lives being homeless.
These little House villages are the perfect solution for available housing, especially with rents and real estate getting so only the affluent and the rich can afford a place to live. Fuck the causes of homelessness! I see more and more homeless people with gray hair now. No one deserves to be homeless in this country! |

11. That was wonderful!
It was so hopeful and just made me so happy for those people! This is what we need all over this country. Not only are they able to live with independence and self-respect, but they have a community that they are invested in. It's more than just a home, it's a neighborhood for them. They seem so grateful for and proud of their village.
I really hope this idea takes off all over the nation. I think it's wonderful! Thank you for sharing this! ![]() I recommend this to everyone. |

6. Wish this was legal in California, sadly the scum who control the real estate market won't allow it
So many homeless people here while scumbags get rich in their 6 figure houses

12. We've set two incompatible goals
We want housing to be a "good investment", meaning its value has to rise faster than inflation. We also want housing to be "affordable", meaning its value can't rise faster than inflation. When push has come to shove, the "investment" side has always won out.

10. Living in big houses makes people acquire a lot of junk to fill it up
And motivates them to stay inside. A tiny house may make people get out more and socialize.
