I don't think military school counts. Most of us have had family in the military, my dad was WWII and my fil and an uncle were in korea. We were raised to have respect for our country and our flag.

14. For Veterans Day people's intentions are obviously good

For Memorial Day, there's nothing happy about it. But then I did have a customer who was a retired career Navy veteran wish all the veterans in our office a Happy Memorial Day so no one was about to educate him, although he ought to know better.

Trump is just dumb, but most folks mean well.

But for starters, Memorial Day isn't supposed to be "happy," it's supposed to be a solemn remembrance of soldiers who died in wars. And since it's a commemoration of dead American troops, you sure wouldn't say it to members of a defeated foreign military force that was once responsible for some of those deaths. It's beyond inappropriate, but Trump just has no idea how to do these things. Every other president (even W, who was kind of a putz) understood the difference between appropriate and inappropriate statements. I guess when you're totally self-absorbed you just can't be bothered to figure it out.

* Trip was optional, not needing to go out of the country on the solemn occasion.

* The appearance, at least, of more dereliction of POTUS duties, not leading national observances, all kinds of big and little ways. He can't even show his face at places that are routine for other presidents.

* Speaking of Shrub, what is it with these rich dudes who went to "the best schools" and came out ignorant of the basics of civics and the country's history and traditions?! Not to mention The Law.


********ON EDIT: And there's another thread about active duty military having SHITLER patches on their MILITARY ACTIVE DUTY UNIFORMS, a travesty of military regulations. So even military members have a problem with the concepts of service belonging to the country, NOT to any individual (POTUS). But beyond that, the majority of the country as a whole have a lack of basic knowledge. It's doubtful that SHITLER and certainly his core Deplorables wouldn't be able to pass the Citizenship test that immigrants take.

They got what is called the "gentleman's C" grades, the schools were either legacy, as in the case of Shrub, or given a huge donation shortly before the kid was enrolled, as we know now about trump.

Kind of ironic about the wealthy parents who are charged with bribing people for their kids to get into college, when in fact it happens all the time with Ivy League schools, but the money is called an endowment.
