3. Scrap
How long until people start stealing portions of it to sell as scrap. Maintenance costs never occur to these people.

5. This the so called "law and order" party... right?
The local city ordinance says "a wall can only be six feet tall". Mayor Perea said the border wall stands at roughly 20 feet, with seven feet buried beneath the ground. Nor was a necessary environmental survey study completed, he said. Sunland Park city officials declared the construction application incomplete because it lacked a site plan development and included contradictory information around the construction.
The property owner may have also breached the restriction from the International Water and Boundary Commission, which oversees water and boundary issues between the United States and Mexico. https://www.texastribune.org/2019/05/28/el-paso-area-privately-built-border-wall-receives-cease-and-desist-let/ Sounds like they lied. |

12. Permits!
What a novel concept.
A lot of people are genuinely ignorant of the need for permits. Too bad. Recently I did some home improvements. New windows and doors. A pergola. Two entirely different things. The first was done by a major window and door company, the second by a local guy. Both got permits, and in both cases I heard back from the city permit person. I want to say that I feel very good to know that at some point in the future when my home goes to be sold, these were legal changes. |

16. Permits...hah!
When I wanted to add a deck on the back of my house, I have several home improvement people come in and give estimates.
A couple of them said, "you don't need a permit since we are removing an old porch (which was about 1/10 the size of the deck)". One guy said we need permits and he would take care of it all and add the cost to his bill. Needless to say, the city building inspector came out twice...once to see the concrete footings and review the plans, and again to see the finished product. I would have been SOL if I had taken the other guy's word for it. As it is, my cedar deck can support a large truck and might actually outlast the house. You gotta follow the law. A novel concept for Republicans. Patrick Phillips |

18. Yes.
My pergola involved concrete footings, and there was an inspection of them. I am honestly very glad of the inspection and the requirements to make it all good and safe.
Not sure how long the pergola will actually last, but since I'm now seventy years old, I might well be gone before it falls apart. ![]() |

Sunland Park Mayor says privately-funded border barrier is in violation
By: KTSM Staff Posted: May 28, 2019 03:15 PM MST Updated: May 28, 2019 04:53 PM MST Link: https://www.ktsm.com/border-report/sunland-park-mayor-says-privately-funded-border-barrier-is-in-violation/2034500075 The missing pieces include: • No survey submitted with the application. • No plan for site development. • No environmental studies. Among many other illegal things tey've done, WALL RAISES BINATIONAL CONCERNS...... (snips) Earlier in the day, activists on both sides of the border had expressed concerns about private involvement in patrolling the border and wall-building. The group We Build the Wall spearheaded the fundraising efforts for the steel-bollard fence next to Cristo Rey.
"It's clear to us that construction of a portion of the wall in private property is nothing but a political stunt by white supremacists and xenophobic groups," Fernando Garcia, executive director of the El Paso-based Border Network for Human Rights, said in a statement. "We find it very worrisome that private citizens are increasingly getting involved in the detention of migrants and now the construction of border walls, and we urge the United States government to look into this situation," said Adolfo Castro Rios, director of the Human Rights office in Juarez. "These are individuals who are not trained to properly deal with immigrants and respect their lawful rights and who are often heavily armed. We are concerned this is a situation that may lead to acts of violence against immigrants crossing into the United States without authorization," he said. I hope they fine their asses into oblivion and also make them tear down that illegal section of wall...... ![]() |

14. What do you want to bet that Trumpoids told him to build what they want...
that the fed will step in and make the locals accept it for "national security."
The locals probably can't afford a lawsuit with the federal govt. |

19. The property owner built his illegal wall with money he collected
through a gofundme account. Brian Kolfage raised $20 to build the wal, but his group, "We Build the Wall", told Yahoo! the project cost $6 million, far less than the money he collected.
So where's the rest of the money? Let this grifters past indict him:

22. I can't help but think that the construction company is behind this whole thing
Since they won't get at much taxpayer dollars from the government as they planned, they figured another way of just getting people to hand them the money directly.

24. Kris Kobach gives tour of GoFundMe border wall
Aaron Martinez, El Paso Times

Kobach is general counsel for the “We Build the Wall” group, which has raised more than $22 million of its $1 billion goal to put up barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. The group and its advisory board also include several prominent proponents of President Donald Trump's immigration policy, including former White House strategist Steve Bannon, Blackwater security firm founder Erik Prince, former U.S. Rep.
