Is Pelosi Waiting for "An Ironclad Case" before moving forward on Impeachment?

She seems to be saying that.

Here's what she said today:

This morning we heard a patriotic American make his presentation. I have the deepest respect for special counsel — well former special counsel Mueller and what he had to say. He indicated if he saw any evidence that the president was innocent, he would have let us know. If he had any evidence that the president was not guilty, he would have let us know, but he didn’t. I think that was very, very important. I have the deepest respect for him and thank him and his team for the presentation of facts that will further lead us to help us in the Congress, in the courts. This is a very valuable contribution. I’m gravely disappointed in the justice department for their attitude, misrepresentation of the Mueller report to begin with. They are hiding behind something that you could never find in the constitution that the president is above the law and their misrepresentations even under oath by the attorney general to the Congress of the United States.

We will continue on our path which was led by our six chairmen. Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings, Maxine Waters. All of them have a piece of this. Last week we had three victories in the courts. One Elijah Cummings, the president’s accountant, they have to share the information. Two Maxine Waters which is they have to share the information and three not related to the Russian investigation or related to other problems we have with the president and his view of the Constitution. The court said that he can’t use Defense Department money to build his wall.
----
Where they will lead us, we shape see — Shall see. Nothing is off the table, but we do want to make a compelling case, such an ironclad case, that even the Republican Senate which seems to be not an objective jury will be convinced of the path that we have to take as a country.

Pelosi doesn’t want to impeach. She has said it directly and in so many words. And she’s saying it now.

5. Well, I guess we can always WAIT until the 2020 election ....

That the ruskies WILL be interfering, this time with FEELING, into the 2020 GE.

That we KNOW thuglicans will once again voter-suppress.

Hey, we can wait until tRumputin declares that there will be NO 2020 election because HIS DOJ said that the Chinese, per Crooked Hillary, will be helping the Dems win the presidency. Either that, or fatso start a war and declare that there an be NO 2020 General Election.

Dems better start lining up people to testify soon (Yeah Mueller too), and if Nancy is thinking of laying the groundwork in that way, well then that IS something and I'm with her IF, she is thinking like that .....

Because to just sit here and and THINK that you'll be able to vote orange fatso out of office is stupid, because we may not even HAVE a 2020 General Election PER Orange Fatso, Dictator in Chief. I've friends who are contacting Nancy at her office here in California and who also plan to contact her in Washington DC as well.

Agree, she want's to make a iron clad case for the American people to decide on voting day.. Timing is everything. The senate will never convict. She wants a big beautiful blue wall of votes to get his ass out of office. No close vote OVERWHELMING vote.. VOTE HIM OUT..

There is no turning the base. They are lost to us and have no interest in any kind of bipartisan country. They are "my way or the highway" folks.

But they're only 40% on a good day.

Sure, the senate will acquit but only after the story is laid bare in a public hearing. Trump will claim his "acquittal" is the equivalent of full exoneration but the only folks that will believe that are the ones that believe it now. There's a solid 20% of the country (in my humble opinion) that fall into that great middle...folks who can still be influenced by facts. And a good many (again in my humble opinion) will see their republican senators whistling past the graveyard and I believe those voters will exact a price. Failure to put these facts on the table for their consideration is a miss.

I live by the rule that we get what we accept, not what we expect.

If Trump's behavior doesn't rise to impeachment - nothing will.

she wants public opinion to be more in favor but doesn't want to use those words.

If we see polling swing impeachment up into say the 40s or low 50s, she probably acts.

If it doesn't move, she probably doesn't.

mueller is done. if he won't testify we've wasted over 2 years and need to get started now.

no case, iron clad or not, is going to materialize without hearings.

7. IMO it is clearly the responsibility of the House to impeach this

president given the evidence in Mueller report along with the BS we see every day. I do not ask why or how Pelosi will might get to this decision. I don’t question her political know how or skill. But I do believe she will decide to launch an impeachment inquiriy/process eventually.
Our founding fathers did not impart in the Constitution that impeachment is an avenue for holding a president accountable only if the House feels the Senate will convict.
I believe the House has a constitutional duty to move forward with impeachment inquiries etc.

if the Democratic majority in the House failed to impeach. Clyburn and Pelosi have been around long enough to know that. It would be an even bigger victory for Trump than being exonerated by a Republican-controlled Senate.

13. Pelosi says only a small number of Democrats are calling to impeach Trump, asks for patience
Wed May 29, 2019, 07:48 PM
May 2019

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to simmer down the intensifying calls to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday by stressing patience and highlighting that only a small number of Democrats are calling for the move.

"I think it's like 35 of them out of 238, maybe its 38 out of 238, have said they wanted to be outspoken on impeachment and many of them are reflecting their views as well as those of their constituents," Pelosi said. "Yes, there are some, and the press makes more of a fuss about the 38 than the 200, who are over half of the Congress."
