Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg on Wednesday evening will for what is believed to be the first time publicly apologize for the fatal crashes of two Renton-made 737 Max 8 aircraft.
He will make the apology during an exclusive interview with CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor Norah ODonnell.
According to CBS News, Muilenburg will say:
We feel terrible about these accidents, and we apologize for what happened. We are sorry for the loss of lives in both accidents. We are sorry for the impact to the families and the loved ones that are behind, and that will never change, that will always be with us. I can tell you it affects me directly as a leader of this company. Its very difficult.
CBS News also said Muilenburg told ODonnell the crashes have had the biggest impact on him of anything in his 34 years with the company.
