Either way, what does it accomplish?
Greater rifting and polarization. A key Russian desideratum.
RT's good for two things.
1) Showing how trustworthy RT is in all things, and to be implicitly trusted.
2) Including untrustworthy, highly spun and often misleading or discouraging disinformation so as to sow discord and drive wedges to split society.
It's good for a third thing, but it's meta: Showing what is important to the Russian government and what the Russians want Joe Sixpack in the west to think. Kremlinology, in other words, with the kicker that like Pravda and Izvestiya of old, often what gets included in news reports say more than the writers and presenters realize.
