VIRGINIA BEACH
Multiple people were injured by a shooter, who has been apprehended, at the city's Municipal Center on Friday afternoon, police said.

Master Police Officer Allen Perry confirmed there was a shooter in building two, which is located next door to City Hall.

At 4:50 p.m., the Virginia Beach Police Department tweeted that one shooter has been taken into custody and multiple people were injured. Perry said he could not say how many.

"We are asking everyone in the Municipal Center to shelter in place," he said.

Emergency crews are responding to the courthouse complex, Art Kohn, a fire-rescue spokesman, said about 4:30 p.m. He did not provide any other details.

7. Can't really uses scanners in NJ anymore. All police went to encrypted county/state wireless.

Perps were using scanners to pick the best time to boot the front doors of their victims and elude police.

They would find out when cops were dispatched to calls in other sections of town, giving them extra minutes.
