Dems set to use McConnell's legislative graveyard against him

BY MIKE LILLIS - 06/07/19 06:00 AM EDT

House Democrats are hoping to use Sen. Mitch McConnell's “legislative graveyard” as a messaging tool to topple GOP candidates in 2020.

McConnell (R-Ky.), the Senate majority leader, is embracing his role as a roadblock to the Democrats' legislative agenda, casting himself as the “Grim Reaper” poised to kill the Democrats’ top policy priorities. The barrier has frustrated Democrats as they fight to advance legislation they promised voters in 2018, but they also see it as a political gift heading into next year's elections.

Just this week, the House passed legislation granting legal protections to so-called Dreamers, immigrants brought to the country illegally as children. Democrats also hope to soon pass an increase to the minimum wage, and measures on climate change, health care and gun safety have already been approved.

Those proposals poll well nationally, and Democrats think voters — particularly those fed up with Washington gridlock — will take notice if McConnell simply ignores them, as he's vowing to do.

Make his re-election bid a National issue that the business of the people is not getting done. That the House is doing its job for the American people, while the Senate is not.

Using McConnell's words against him will pit Senate Republicans at odds with their constituents who are hurting. Democrats can take back the Senate. McConnell is the key to doing that.

message that this greedy billionaires' lackey has been stepping on working class Americans' necks for years ... first by obstructing President Obama at every possible turn, then by stealing a Supreme Court Justice appointment, and now refusing to allow the Senate to vote on any legislation passed by the House. Make Congress work for people, not greedy billionaires. Vote Democrat.

just like the Republicans have always tied Nancy Pelosi to any Democrat running for office, now any Republican Senator either up for re-election or challenging an incumbent Dem will have McConnell and his obstructionism tied around their own neck.

As Trump's poll numbers slip in states, people are going to be paying attention a lot more than they are now as Senate Republicans try to hold on.

From the article linked in the OP:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has made it routine to denounce McConnell's “Grim Reaper” promise as a barrier to any progress on Capitol Hill. This week, she marked the first 150 days of the Democrats' House majority by rattling off a slew of proposals already passed by the lower chamber that now sit idle in the Senate. The list includes voting rights protections, campaign finance reforms, pay equality for women, a net neutrality bill and protections for the LGBTQ community.

Each ad or billboard should highlight one piece of legislation that McConnell has blocked in the Senate. The ads could be targeted at parts of the country where those particular laws were popular.

Just put the law or issue addressed on a tombstone and a picture of McConnell with his creepy smile and the "Grim Reaper" label. Very simple and very direct.

The people elected a blue House not to just impeach but also because the people are majority liberal and like Dem policies.

The bills the House passes, and McConnell kills, are our resume to the people for 2020.

Unfortunately if you go grab ten people off the street and ask them to name a bill we have passed in 2018 probably zero of them will have an answer. That is why our bills need to be prominently displayed throughout 2020. In commercials, on billboards, and it should be on a giant screen at the Dem convention in the background behind EVERY speaker.

And the message should be clear: do you like sensible gun control? Women’s rights? Babies NOT in cages? Here is what we have done that the Senate has killed. Vote blue and we will deliver these programs for you!!!

At least the Ditch Mitch organization isn't talking about any specific person(s)...

EXPOSING THE TRUTH
OUR PLAN TO DITCH MITCH

Link: https://ditchmitchfund.com/plan/

We’re committed to helping ensure Mitch’s future Democratic opponent can fund their campaign with small-dollar donors — not just because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it’s how to build a winning campaign capable of defeating Mitch McConnell.

Through leveraging our resources, running digital ads, and relying on our grassroots community, we’ll build a small dollar army not just to hold Mitch accountable, but also to tell his Democratic opponent’s story and get her or his message out to voters.

noting that RW-infiltrated and controlled media will do a lot to dirty, obscure, distort, and deny this message. AND hostile-left sources, as well as Russia, China, Iran, etcetera.

Still, we operate under the conditions we have. The many problems the Republicans have developed so determinedly this century are now growing to the point that they're hurting the middle classes directly and unmistakably, bypassing pernicious attempts to deceive.
