Did they really play "Goodbye Blue Sky"? It's ironic on so many levels.

I've dealt with Roger Waters' management. They are very, very strict about how and where there music is used.

The have historically stolen music at thousands of events. They use music until they get a court order.

While an artist may object to the use of the work in a particular setting, it is usually the case that the recording is included in a licensing service which the copyright owner, even if the artist is the copyright owner, has authorized to grant package licenses for public performances.

That may, or may not, be the case here, but it is a typical arrangement that one pays a single fee to RIAA or ASCAP for use of a work for a public event, because the copyright owner of the recording has agreed to license through those agencies.

If you want to play Pink Floyd recordings at a public event, Roger Waters' opinion doesn't enter into the picture, since the licensing agent for those recordings is EMI:

If the Fountain Head architect was justified in destroying a building that deviated from his design, how could it be ok to play Pink Floyd'd music when they disagree.

I agree it is likely legal.

11. Why don't thye play music inspired by Conservatism ?

the thing with this music htey play is they seem to think it's only music, entertainment. which it is to a point. but the reason it sounds so good is because of what inspired it.

i actually see music like Bieber as conservative music because it's based on just making money. doesn't matter what the quality is.
