If I were the Obama campaign I would consider interviewing an African American woman on welfare

and ask her if the work requirement has been lifted and put this in a campaign commercial. Let's hear it from the people on welfare themselves.

Why can't we get off supporting this meme? They are not going to listen to it anyway.

Call it out for what it is. If you are going to insist on it, show the REAL face of welfare and that face is not black.

So show a group of 10 people: 7 white, 2 Black and 1 Hispanic ... But for flavor, make 8 of the total group, women.

but the biggest thing that needs to be shown is how many folks had real jobs and lives and homes and lost that because of wall st, and how many people have been able to slowly get a grip and claw their way back to a sense of 'normalcy' because of POSITIVE legislation and action by our PRES...

I wish I could shout from the rooftops how just that small student loan bill passing last fall has affected my life. I am now planning to return to university for the first time in 10 years and FINISH my degree, and maybe even get OFF assistance once and for ALL...

who was on general assistance and food stamps while he and his wife were both going to college and raising a daughter. He and his wife both graduated with honors and he is now a successful attorney. His wife (now ex) is an executive with a furniture company, and their daughter graduated college with a degree in art and is now a teacher.

Two of the biggest liberal Democrats you will ever find. My nephew was a public defender for a long time and he loved defending the less fortunate and at least trying to help in whatever way he could. They both donate to progressive causes and neither one has ever forgotten the help that got them where they are.

I was half-joking ... But only half.

I've known several people that survived on "welfare" only to become rabid opponents of the very programs that helped them survive.

One of my mom's friends is on SSI, lives in government assisted housing, gets medicare, and absolutely hates President Obama. I started calling her on it, and now when I'm there she won't even come in the house LOL. I refuse to back down, and so does my nephew. We piss a lot of people off.

Reminds me of that old saying: (paraphrasing) Speak the truth even if your voice shakes.
