President Trump has promised to cure cancer, eradicate AIDS, and ensure that American astronauts land on Mars if he wins a second term.
We will push onward with new medical frontiers.
We will come up with the cures to many, many problems, to many, many diseasesincluding cancer and others and were getting closer all the time, Trump said to a cheering crowd at his rally in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday night.
We will eradicate AIDS in America once and for all and were very close.
We will lay the foundation for landing American astronauts on the surface of Mars.

(14,967 posts)this is much more dangerous and much less silly of a campaign promise than it seems at first glance.
Especially when you add in the fact that a 2nd Trump term would, in general, result in the ultimate destruction of the rule of law and the independent judiciary which he has begun undermining in this first term. Your civil rights on paper are just words on paper without people willing to physically enforce them.
"But who would go along with that and enact it?" you may ask... Well, the same type of people who are now going along with deporting some American citizens and legal residents of certain ethnicities whilst claiming they are illegal immigrants, who are going along with not following the law or the facts because their boss instructs them so.
Wake up Americans, this guy is not a clownish buffoon, he is a dangerous monster.

(959 posts)Thats what I first though when I glanced at the OP. He's trying to kill protection for preexisting conditions. What better way to eradicate HIV than to get rid of me.
And his base would be fine with it since their fucked up biblical view is that it's god's punishment

Just like JFK gets credit for starting the moon landing, Trump will claim credit when we eventually land on Mars.

(12,586 posts)If "we're very close" to eradicating AIDS in America, that means the research done during the Obama presidency is producing results.
If "we're very close," then why not do it now and not dangle it out as a carrot for reelecting him?
WTF does "laying the foundation" for landing American astronauts on Mars mean? With every flight SpaceX and other companies take, we're moving closer to that goal, and they've been shooting up rockets since May 6 2002.
When he took office, Fat Donnie called the NASA administrator in and told him he wanted a man on Mars by the end of his first term. When told that was impossible, the Stable Genius said, "But what if I gave you all the money you could ever need to do it?" I guess he doesn't know that Congress has the power of the purse. He definitely doesn't understand the step-by-step process of space exploration. The Apollo 1, Challenger and Columbia accidents proved you can't rush the process.
