Earthquake: 6.4 quake felt near Ngunguru, New Zealand

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time 563 miles from Ngunguru, New Zealand, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was farther than 100 miles from a city.

In the last 10 days, there have been eight earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.2 miles. Did you feel this earthquake? Consider reporting what you felt to the USGS.
