The danger in "normalizing" Donald Trump

Democrats cannot permit themselves to ignore his words and actions. They must continue to call him out.

His supporters know that he is a skunk-pig, but they feel validated when their unstable leader is not called out on his insane comments and actions. They are looking for the smallest thread of credibility that they can grab and celebrate. If they don't hear any criticism, they embrace as truth everything their Dear Leader says.

He is running for re-election and he is attacking the same targets, including Hillary Clinton, that he attacked in 2016. But we knew that already. He was the first president in history to announce his re-election bid on the day of his inauguration. He wanted to send a message early to any Republicans that might think of opposing him.

There is nothing "normal" about Donald Trump. Democrats must understand this, even if his supporters do not. We must continue to fight the assault upon the truth and upon our democracy. We cannot pretend that Democratic voters wish to talk about the "issues" as Donald Trump continues on his merry way to destroying everything we have ever fought and died for. A demagogue must be challenged at every turn and every pronouncement.

Let us not look beyond the danger at our door.

For those of us who still are students of it, Emperors and Kings did not fare all to well.

From the Roman Emperors, European Monarchs, the Romanovs, and other Despots of recent history, the end was not very pretty.

Trump's end will not be very pretty either. He will stir anarchy and even more chaos.

He looks at it as part of reality TV. He has no plan. He writes the script from day to day. In my opinion, he sees himself as the Producer and Director of the Show. Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage..." etc.

5. As awful as Trump is at his core values and actions.

Those who blindly support him lies, degradation and corruption; are far worse. Never trust anyone who currently supports Trump and be skeptical of former Trump voters, associates and advocates. The truth about Donald J Trump was known long before he became President.

7. Kentuck, what's really not normal in our political system is....

the massive GOP system and other right-wing structures whose public face is called Trump. Then, there's also his rotten-ass cabinet, "R" members of Congress and a bunch of Rethug governors.

Let's never get so myopic that we think being rid of tRump will solve all our problems. After he's gone, the GOP and their billionaire supporters will just redesign themselves a bit with new faces and new fear-mongering, rebound and come at us again. They may even find themselves a Trump Version 2.

I just want us to to never lose sight of the mischievous work outfits like Heritage Foundation, ALEC, American Enterprise Inst. and Koch's organizations, for example are doing every day. I think we need to keep ourselves informed on the activities of these dens of iniquity as best we can. We have to be hyper-vigilant because of their refusal to be transparent. Trump has been extremely effective at distracting most of us from those hidden enemies.

In addition, we have hundreds of corporations working behind the scenes to defeat us as well. Our side is horribly short with countermeasures against these very wealthy foes.

....nuf sed.

There has always been a "property" Party, that can take the label of any political Party, and apply it to their political ideas. They have always had the power and the propaganda to control the masses. This seems to be the struggle for as long as we have recorded history?

Democrats, or more correctly, "liberals", have always challenged those in power whenever their senses have been unacceptably assaulted. They have always relied on the power of the People.

I see it as a great political struggle between the interests of the people and the interests of the wealthy, to see who controls the "governments" of the different nations around the world. Those wealthy would include large multi-national corporations, oligarchs, and international criminals. Democracies are under threat around the world, in my opinion.

13. A failure to impeach IS normalizing Trump

Impeachment is an extreme remedy for extreme behavior. Politics is the normal remedy for distasteful and/or disagreeable behavior. If Democrats choose to leave it for the next election cycle to repudiate Trump, we have normalized him.
