This ad is amazing as Olson tries to flip this seat that covers the suburbs between Dallas and Ft. Worth.

(66,369 posts)I don't really think a woman has a chance in the increasingly cartoonishly hypermacho Lone Star State. The state that elected Anne Richards governor has decayed into a reactionary cesspool of toxic masculinity.
And let's face it: military service, once seen as an inarguable asset for any political candidate, has now become a staggering liability, especially for Democrats. Look how the repukes pissed all over the Vietnam service of Al Gore and John Kerry. They even savaged their own, John McCain, after Cadet Bonespurs said all of those putrid things about veterans, POW's, and sufferers of PTSD.
There once may have been a time when any Republican sneering at the service of any candidate of either party would be denounced in the strongest terms. But now, with Trump-worshipping meth addicts and trailer-dwellers calling the shots in the GOP, anyone with any service under his or her web belt gets smeared against the wall like so much shit.

(9,865 posts).....feeling it. It seems all swagger and no policy. What is she going to do for the actual citizens of Texas that distinguishes her from Repugs?
But that's just me. In general, I never feel gung-ho about life-long pentagon types. Also as a National Guard member is she now part of ICE operations of the border?
Does she have anything to say about the children in cages at the border?

(1,568 posts)Then she will likely get into policy. Shes smart to start with a strong introduction to get her name out and trending.
