Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsRemember how the Madman bragged there would be over 100,000 people at his Orlando speech?
20,000 in the arena, and over 80,000 outside watching on screens?
Well, to his credit, the arena was mostly full. Reportedly there was some small smattering of empty seats, but saying there was over 19,000 in the building would be a fair assessment.
But what about all those unlucky 80,000 souls who signed up for a ticket but couldn't get in?
Well, here they all are, as the festivities went live:
Personally, I counted 8 people. But there could have been more off camera, and reports say there could have been up to about 30 people watching total.
So, 19,030ish equals 100,000 in Trump math, right?

(16,254 posts)You estimate low values when it comes to taxes or extreme values when it comes to selling property or getting a loan.

(16,646 posts)That looks like long after the music was done. There was a rain storm that afternoon and we got a good down pour. I'd imagine that ran alot of people off. But there was never 100,000 people down there. 100,000 people wouldn't FIT down there. There might have been a couple of thousand at the peak, but that'd be it.

(11,584 posts)You can see it in the picture.
But not the outside events. The bands had left. It gets dark after 8:00 and I suspect people moved on by then.

(16,646 posts)I actually think they were hoping for confrontation. The rain probably put a damper on those thoughts. Little did they probably know there was a counter protest about 2 blocks away.

(13,058 posts)We need their votes. We need to get them to realize that Trump's policies are against their best interests. But putting them down based on their appearance won't work.

(66,369 posts)You must not be aware of the absolute gutter loathing they have for us. They've been told for decades that Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc. are to blame for their lot in life. A quick, but studious glance at the political realities behind economic inequality, de-industrialization, the rise of the service and gig economies, and the staggering power of corporations would disabuse them of their hatred and unreasoning distrust.
But they'll never take that glance. It's too much work. It's easier to watch FOX News, or listen to AM hate radio, and bask in the soothing balm of "It's everyone else's fault; not yours..."
Best summary of Trump supporters I've read on DU

The planned overflow area across from the arena was virtually empty as the rally began inside the arena."
"About an hour before Trump was scheduled to speak, the long lines snaking around the Amway Center in downtown Orlando were gone and people could easily walk into the event.
