(10,177 posts)Christian Dominionists' interpretation of one of the most debated verses in the Bible, Genesis 1:28, or what the evangelical movement calls the "Dominion Mandate," gives man the right to exploit the earth.
Genesis 1:28: "And God blessed them [Adam and Eve], and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the Earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth."
The "Creation Care" movement, prevalent in some quarters of the Christian church, believes in the green movement. Among evangelicals there is a strong reaction against environmentalism.

(10,177 posts)means we aren't going to be around long enough to have to worry about things like climate change and ruining the environment. No wonder Corporate Republicans constantly pander to evangelicals and Christian Dominionists; their political support works out great for the extractive energy interests.
