MSNBC Breaking: Train carrying bombs and grenades derails in NV

A public safety alert from the Elko City and County Public Safety Department posted on Twitter said that the train derailed around 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

The train was carrying bombs, ammonium nitrate, and grenades.

It remains unclear what company train belongs to, and if any of the cars that derailed were carrying hazardous materials.

Video posted on Twitter shows smoke billowing from the train.

A train has derailed in Elko County, Nevada, and it was reportedly carrying bombs, ammonium nitrate, and grenades.


According to a public safety alert from the Elko City and County Public Safety Department posted on Twitter, the train derailed in Wells, Nevada, around 10:20 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

Video posted on Twitter showed smoke billowing from the train.

8. Bombs and grenades are very hard to detonate without fuses

and they are never shipped with fuses installed. Not much of a threat here, even if there was a fire - they will burn but not explode.

11. Few weeks back....

...my wife and I heard an explosion. I looked in the direction where it happened from our balcony and could see that there must have been accident (not too far from a major highway). Couldn't see the accident as it was obscured by high trees. Then another explosion and I thought "WTF?" Then I see intense flames higher than the trees burn rapidly and then fizzle out. By that time the fire department arrived.

Turns out, a truck carrying diesel crashed and caught fire. Amazingly, no one was hurt or killed.
