This may be an unpopular rant, but popularity is over-rated.

The Hope Hicks FARCE today is the trigger for this post, but it is only the most recent example of conduct which thoroughly pisses off me and, I sincerely believe, millions of other Democrats.

We are getting our asses kicked almost daily on nationwide TV by the smarmy smirking assholes of the Trump regime and, for all practical purposes, not a damn thing is being done about it. Yes, I know there are ongoing investigations and litigation but, so far, what can the average somewhat-interested observer point to as a consequence of dozens of unexcused non-privileged refusals to testify? What price has been paid for defying subpoenas?

Those who claim authority to impose rules that others must follow---parents, judges, Congressmen---MUST confront those who defy them and either get compliance or impose a penalty. There must be a price for hurling repeated "Go fuck yourself"s at those who claim authority or their claim is soon seen for what it is: empty pretense.

So, the Hopester flipped off Congressional Democrats for a couple of hours today and then pranced past the cameras on her way to her ride. You can say the fight's not over, but you can't say she didn't win the day as far as most observers are concerned.

And, the Democrats shook their fists and once again muttered about "court action". And, like many who will disagree with this post, urged "patience".

Even DeVoss and Minuchin wouldn't be able to swat away that number for long.

Walking down the hall, mumbling answers to questions from reporters.

It is disheartening. News headline says "Democrats livid" about it. We sure didn't see that from the committee chair.
