Why did Ivanka stick so close to Trump this trip?

Interesting Twitter thread suggesting that she has become Trump's "caretaker", that he is descending into dementia.
Also that this is what Pelosi was talking about when she said his family should stage an intervention... and that this is perhaps why she's slow-tracking impeachment, that he will have to resign within a year.

Also the suggestion is that he can no longer read well, and that's why she gave that televised wrapup for him.

I don't know, but seeing Ivanka there (not his wife) practically welded to him... it looked so strange, all these heads of states, and then a daughter sitting there like she's one of them, but right next to him.

He really is the perfect distillation of GOP "values" over the last several decades. I think for their next candidate (if just keeping some member of this repellent family in the WH forever doesn't work out for them) they should just go with an actual demented old circus monkey, and have "press conferences" where their candidate just throws its own shit around the room and screeches.

Actually that might be a touch more dignified than what we have now.

That is why sometimes he seems somewhat normal and then sometimes not. It also would explain why he has to grip a glass or cup or bottle so oddly. It might also interfere with his ability to read. Several times, he has had trouble pronouncing his words, which is also possibly another sign. I think Ivanka is there to draw attention away from him, to avoid scrutiny.

but Ivanka is considered the brains of the Trump dynasty.

She is there to be seen, to pick up the lingo, and make contacts, so that when Trump (Daddy) becomes physically and mentally incontinent, Trump (daughter) can step into his position without anyone noticing.

Yes, a horrible thought. I'm giggling hysterically, close to a massive breakdown. How do I turn this comedy of errors off? It's hurting my brain.

EDIT: Would she want to be known as President Ivanka, or Princess Ivanka? And would it be a smooth transition of power? Would the GOP notice, or care, or object?

By way of explanation to our younger DUers: Nancy Reagan became Ronald Reagan's handler in the 2nd term because of his increasing confusion and forgetfulness. The White House tried to prevent the public from finding out that he had dementia, and Nancy was always by his side, directing him where to stand and telling him what to say. It became so obvious what she was doing that rumors began circulating that Reagan was really out of touch, had Alzheimer's etc. He had already won his 2nd term and the GOP had no interest in removing him from office.

Since Melania wasn't on this trip, Ivanka got to be his handler. I'm sure Chump prefers Ivanka anyway.

But... if he dumps Pence as a running mate and chooses another and it's accepted at the GOP convention (which it no doubt will be-- they'll accept anything from him), then it will be up to the voters in November.

And you know, he's already so unpopular. This would ice his defeat. Surely we're not that stupid to accept this?

Pence will probably slink away quietly like the lapdog he is.

Betting that 45 is either going to have her run in his place, or possibly “re-deploy” Pence elsewhere, so she can be his veep, positioned for a 2024 run.

Or, it could simple be that she’s his “security blanket,” and can speak without incriminating dad, thereby alleviating the concern of “perjury traps,” when dad easily wanders way, way off-script.
