Will you be able to forgive?

There is zero chance that I could ever forgive people who support locking children and adults in cages in the most inhumane of circumstances. People are dead! The fake, pro life, bullshit spewing posers acting as though they give two shits about life when the opposite is what they clearly demonstrate. I am so overwhelmingly distraught about the trumpcamps.

every single person identifying themselves as Republican for the rest of time.

It's highly symbolic of the right-wing mindset peppered with selfishness, greed, cold-heartedness and xenophobia we've seen in the GOP for all our lives (for me, since Nixon) and they must be shamed at every opportunity, including the "churches" that support them.

The psychopathy that drives these waves of right-wing atrocity will never disappear but we must eventually place them where they belong: in mental health treatment rather than in public office.

Forgiveness in the heart must be an individual decision, but those who have committed crimes against refugees and immigrants must face justice.

We must work hard to see that new laws and regulations are in place to prevent these actions ever happening again.

Forgiveness is only bestowed upon someone who has ceased their evil actions and has repented and apologized for their “sins”.

These people have done neither. The opposite, they are proud to be called deplorable.

Those who can be “saved” will protest and/or leave their paid employment—-it’s a tough choice, but they must make a choice. Those who choose to stay deserve no forgiveness, they knowingly inflict suffering on others for a paycheck.

When we become ideological slaves to a paycheck then the streets become violent.

The agents of hatred succeed on a certain level when they fill others with hate. Vlad Putin wanted Trump in the White House for many reasons, not the least of which is to inflame and widen the bitter divisions tearing Americans (and by extension our country) apart.

For the good of our country and the future of the world we live in, today's Republican Party needs to be overwhelmingly defeated in elections at every level of government. Only then can American conservatism regain whatever legitimate value it once possessed.

For the good of our country, the bitter divisions must be healed. We don't have to forgive our unrepentant MAGA relatives, but that doesn't mean we can't make an effort to treat everyone with some kindness. That doesn't mean accepting or indulging or enabling the manifestations of ignorance, fear, and hatred -- but indulging our own anger and resentment accomplishes nothing good. If the relationship is abusive, do not feed it.

That last line reminded me of this:

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Oh my name it ain't nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I was taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side

Oh, the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh, the country was young
With God on its side

The Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War, too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the heroes
I was made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side

The First World War, boys
It came and it went
The reason for fighting
I never did get
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side

The Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And then we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
The Germans now, too
Have God on their side

I've learned to hate the Russians
All through my whole life
If another war comes
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side

But now we got weapons
Of chemical dust
If fire them, we're forced to
Then fire, them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side

Through many a dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ was
Betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
That if God's on our side
He'll stop the next war

The media couldn’t care less. Haven’t really seen anyone remotely bothered by it.

79. Here's what I will NEVER forgive

I will NEVER forgive Donnie Shit for Brains moron voters for requiring me to take seriously, a bunch of ignorant fucksticks that I know deep in my soul, should never be taken seriously .

I will NEVER forgive them for making moronic dickwads, that I know with a crystaline certainty, should be the most insignificant pricks we ever encounter in our lives, somehow significant.

That I will NEVER forgive!

81. I'm so tired of feeling angry all the time.

It's just a shitty way to have to go through your day, and this administration and its apologists/supporters/drooling sycophants have certainly given me more shitty days than I care to recall.

The problem with not eventually forgiving to at least some extent is that I have nothing to do with the residual anger it produces except to internalize it. Then it becomes an ugly gift that keeps on giving as all that internalized anger eventually either resurfaces and causes me to lash out at people I don't mean to direct my anger at, or remains buried in an emotional pit inside my psyche causing depression.

I think I'll just choose to forget. For me, forgetting entails some level of forgiveness, at least to the extent that I will no longer allow these toxic people and their pathological obsessions and hatreds to rent space inside my cabeza. Let them go their way, and I'll go mine, and, hopefully, never the twain shall meet.

As long as they continue to hurt anyone they deem to be other, I can’t forget. Eventually they’ll come for all of us if we don’t put a stop to them.

Hungry, Scared and Sick: Inside the
Migrant Detention Center in Clint, Tex.
Outbreaks of scabies, shingles and chickenpox were spreading among the hundreds of children who were being held in cramped cells, agents said. The stench of the children’s dirty clothing was so strong it spread to the agents’ own clothing — people in town would scrunch their noses when they left work. The children cried constantly. One girl seemed likely enough to try to kill herself that the agents made her sleep on a cot in front of them, so they could watch her as they were processing new arrivals.

This is the NYT and they fired back at drumpf about his lies
Trump tweeted that “The Fake News Media, in particular the Failing New York Times, is writing phony and exaggerated accounts of the Border Detention Centers.” He then went on to insist that he’s providing “care” for the immigrants he’s kidnapped and illegally imprisoned. As it turns out, the New York Times wasn’t about to let Trump get away with his lies. https://www.palmerreport.com/analysis/new-york-times-fires-back-trump/19181/

87. Let's Forgive but Never, Ever Forget
Mon Jul 8, 2019, 11:14 AM
Jul 2019

Forgiveness isn't ever for the other person. On the contrary, it's for each one of us and our own physical, mental and spiritual health. Forgiveness never means that what the other person(s) did was ever acceptable under any circumstances. It is the process of letting go of the hurt, anger, and hatred for our own well being.

However, forgetting is another matter entirely. We must never forget what has been done in all our names and hold each and every person fully accountable for their crimes, for however long it takes. It's possible to forgive and still have a long memory.
