Senator Calls For Fed Probe Into Gas Price Spike

RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) — California Sen. Dianne Feinstein is calling for a federal investigation into gasoline price spikes that followed a fire at the Chevron Corp. oil refinery in Richmond.

In a letter sent Tuesday to the Federal Trade Commission, Feinstein said the Aug. 6 blaze that damaged the state's third largest refinery did not affect gasoline supplies as some analysts forecast, yet prices still rose dramatically.

I'd like to know what led to Great Lakes refinery closing driving up prices here in Indiana up to $4.05, which are, ironically, higher than prices are shooting up in states affected by Isaac?

Can we investigate why prices are so much higher after the oil executive President?

Even at stations that did not use BP gas. Oil companies and gas stations have been price fixing for years and it really needs to stop.

Who investigated gas prices and they went down to $1.89 in January 2009. The short minded folks who brag on low gas prices when W left office must think we are sleeping. Here on the gulf coast our price has jumped 25 cents in a week. Where do the oil vompNies need to get propped up by tax breaks? What a crock.
