The parade was the regular local DC tradition. No problem with it. The parade that Trump originally proposed was expensive, ill conceived, and possibly illegal.

I strongly oppose the Trump-centric campaign rally being held near the LM and charged to taxpayers.

Your first post is unlikely to get you banned, but you seem to anticipate an early banning.

16. Trump's event is publically funded (tax money, yours & mine) and blatantly a campaign rally...

The "VIP tickets" are for his supporters and donors only. He is ordering military personnel to be there, which is in violation of their regulations. He has pressured the Pentagon from Day One to provide him with a Third World Dictator-style military parade, and the Pentagon has resisted because, guess what, we are NOT a Third World Military Dictatorship.

The Mad King/Trojan Horse wanted a military parade for his inauguration. He wanted tanks, missile launchers, and flyovers. He wanted a lot of military uniforms on display. First and foremost, that is not what Americans do when we swear in a new POTUS. Second and also very important, the streets of Washington DC are not built to carry the weight of military equipment like that, and would be chewed up and wrecked. The Pentagon estimated the overall cost at nearly a billion dollars, iirc.

So the Pentagon said no, and so did a lot of other people. He sulked.

But being Trump, he was fixated on this idea. He keeps trying. Memorial Day, no. Veterans Day, also no.

Fourth of July -- well, he got something. He also fudged the numbers in terms of cost -- fudged them a whole lot. Money is being stolen from -- uh, sorry, transferred -- from the Parks Dept. He is also claiming that we "own" the aircraft, the Air Force Base, and all this other stuff, and therefore it will cost nothing to use it. That is not true: it costs a bundle every time one of those jets gets flown, for instance.

But it apppears that despite repeated temper tantrums he still is not going to get a parade of tanks down Pennsylvania Avenue. Also Sherman tanks haven't been built in 76 years, despite what he says.

But we are all going to pay for what amounts to a MAGA rally, and the rest of us are not invited.

Only republicans were given tickets. That makes it a campaign event on our tax dollar.

Americans love a parade. trump tried to hijack the parade and he succeeded to a degree. The tanks he wanted? He compromised after he was told driving them on the streets would tear them up. They were placed in the VIP area, behind fencing so the American tax payer who attended would not be able to view them.

Despite the WH saying trump's speech would not be political, trump goes off script in every speech I have heard him give. Remember the speech he gave to the Boy Scouts? talking about wild parties on yachts? He was talking about Levitt, who was well known for drug fueled sex parties on his yacht

using military might or violence. It's the celebration of every citizen against rule-by-legacy. Guns, planes, tanks, etc, are out of place with this holiday and parade, IMO.
