https://archive.org/details/washingtonselectionswritingsI figure some here may find this of slight interest. It was published in 1944 and emphasizes those aspects of Washington's life and writings which are historically progressive, such as on democracy and religious freedom.
"Selections from His Writings" are also online for FDR, Frederick Douglass, Samuel Adams and Lincoln (although the scan quality of the Lincoln one is rather bad.)

Dearest Martha,
As we await boarding at Dulles I have found one of my soldiers who likes to be called "THE DONALD" has contracted the bone spur and has decided to fly standby. I am most certain we will not see him in battle.
All my love, George
