(7,681 posts)A few are working hard at keeping them under...and looking really sad and desperate in the process.
The interesting part is how they don't realize what an incredibly bad look it is to be doing that.
How is it possible? After yesterday and this morning...how do they not realize. I don't know.

(3,146 posts)Always thought that Dems believed that women should feel free to speak their own minds with their own voice and yet there are some right here that feel these four should just sit down, shut up and let others do the talking for them.

(26,674 posts)the way Sinead O'Connor did with the pope's photo? It would be quite a statement, but it would very likely endanger their well being (not like they're aren't already ReThug targets, which is scary as it is).

(48,962 posts)but I consider camps where people are held, not given the basic necessities where children and infants are separated from their parent to be a fucking racist system. Anyone who voted to fund it voted to enable it.
George II
(67,782 posts)....after he got called out for it?
I wonder if he was wearing his Subhas Chandra Bose t-shirt when he tweeted that?
Anybody who voted against it voted to deprive the children of necessities.

(48,962 posts)being sexually assaulted, being forced to sleep on hard concrete and dying. That's their necessity. That's the racist system that voting for that bill enabled.

(48,962 posts)A hole where people are defending the funding of a racist policy of camps where people are held in squalid conditions, told to drink toilet water, made to sleep on concrete floors, kids are sexually assaulted, parents are separated from their children and infants and more. But hey, they are being fed so it's all good.
But in almost 30 accounts obtained from "significant incident reports" prepared between April 10 and June 12 by case managers for the Department of Health and Human Services, the department responsible for migrant children after they leave CBP custody, kids who spent time in the Yuma border station repeatedly described poor conditions that are not pure byproducts of overcrowding. They reported being denied a phone call, not being offered a shower, sleeping on concrete or outside with only a Mylar blanket, and feeling hungry before their 9 p.m. dinnertime.
One child reported "sometimes going to bed hungry because dinner was usually served sometime after 9 p.m. and by that time she was already asleep," according to the documents.
"Our clients tell us that they have seen CBP agents kick other children awake, that children do not know whether its day or night because lights are left on all the time, and that they have had food thrown at them like they were wild animals."

(58,785 posts)support what should never be supported. ONE standard for all is a guideline we can use to keep political loyalties from corrupting our morals and intellect -- as has happened to many millions of Trump followers. Maybe pretend Hillary sent out Chakrabarti's tweets and see what you think of them?
Autumn
(48,962 posts)that tweet, I think that the tweet has truth in it. She's a friend of his and his opinion is that her vote for that bill, among many other votes enables a racist system. I consider those camps to be a racist system put in place by a racist piece of shit in the White House. Funding them enables his system. YMMV. I'm not going to get distracted by the actions of someone I don't know and ignore what those assholes are doing at those camps.

(127,359 posts)It is as clear as day that it was meant as an attack.
By the way, calling someone an enabler is also considered an attack. I doubt that Sharice Davids considered the tweet as anything but an attack no matter what spin others may try to put on it.

(19,704 posts)however, the Senate bill that you are so excited about has zero oversight included in it.
So, they get more money (and remember, they were already getting over 700 dollars per human) and weren't able to provide more than toilet water and a few scraps at that rate. Do you honestly, deep down, believe that giving the same people/organizations more money is going to magically turn them into decent human beings who won't pocket their windfall?
The disagreement is about the level of trust that some of us have and some of us don't have in the money actually going to help anyone other than the already rich people who are getting it.
If you believe that it will help anyone, more power to you.
I don't. I believe that it will line some douchbag's pockets and conditions will either remain the same or get worse, since, as I said, there is no oversight provision.

(106,212 posts)Oddly, there hasn't been any mention of what was said in the press conference in this thread, so:
"This is simply a disruption and a distraction from the callous chaos and corrupt culture of this administration, all the way down," Ms Pressley said.
Both Ms Omar and Ms Tlaib also called for Mr Trump to be impeached.
...
All four women insisted that health care, gun violence, and in particular detentions of migrants on the US border with Mexico should be in focus.
"The eyes of history are watching us," said Ms Omar said, decrying the "mass deportation raids" and "human rights abuses at the border".
