We the People are the owners and operators of the United States not the traitors, criminals, gangsters, liars, perverts and sundry hypocrites of the GOP.

(14,876 posts)Our squad is big," Rep. Ayanna Pressley said. "Our squad includes any person committed to building a more equitable and just world, and that is the work that we want to get back to and given the size of this squad and this great nation, we cannot, we will not be silenced."

(794 posts)You may not realize how profound this notion was. At this time there were the royals, the kingshipclass, 'blue bloods'. The "divine right of kings" established a 'superior class' of humans ordained/sanctified by a god--of all entities!. This is not unlike the the notion of pinkish skin as superior.
The "divine right of kings" meant that by heavenly ukase one became king because the gods favored you and you were destined to be a god. Or something. Every primitive culture embraced some version of this. It was only in the Age of Enlightenment that this notion was challenged.
