General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCBS news officially switched to referring to Trump's tweets
as "racist tweets" each time they were mentioned, after this afternoon's press conference. Both on the local and national news.
It was deliberate and repeated several times. Clearly, a memo went out. Tonight was also Norah O'Donnell's first night as evening anchor.
It was striking to hear "President Trump's racist tweets" spoken again and again.

I don't know who made the decision, but it was clearly policy.

When he lies, as he mostly does, call it that! DO NOT try to cosmetically adjust it or make it sound less harmful than it is.
Dont call it a falsehood.
Dont call say he misspoke.
Dont say he misled or misrepresented.
Dont say it wasnt true.
Call. It. A. LIE.
He LIED. He LIES. Hes LYING. What he says/said/just said/has been saying is A LIE.

By contrast, NBC was circumspect about saying "Tweets that some people consider racist." Uh, wanna try, "Tweets that are out-and-out racist, excused only by other racists"?

(23,715 posts)and gave the Dem 4 airtime from their press conference. Usually they only air one side, drumpf's.
This one feels a little different........ like he finally pushed it a little too far. Far enough the media was willing to call it what it really was. Usually they only do that to Democrats, like when they were calling Omar an anti-Semite the instant the name Israel came out of her mouth.

Legal department: 'Very clear case. He can't sue us on that. Go for it!'
One tweet too far, Don. You are staring into the precipice. It's a long way down. Are you sure you want to keep going the way you are?

Every anti-American word, every phrase he ever muttered, tweeted, that was counter productive to the welfare of the American people, as individuals or collectively.
Plenty to work with.

I'll call it right here: Recession by February, Trump's approval in the mid 20's - yes, 20s - and citizens focused like the Vietnam War era. Change is coming. Find a way to hop on board and bring it.

(30,058 posts)When the news came on. The owner grabbed the remote, turned it on CBS and said that there's a woman on the air as Norah appeared. In a place that is normally loud and noisy, full of Vietnamese music and tv programming there was dead silence as they talked about ICE. When she said "racist tweet" you could hear women catching their breath, surprised it was called out. The customer next to me said that he could "f@ck himself and his mail order bride to Russia".
The silence was broken but you could feel the hate coming from the workers as they heard his demands for an apology.
