I'm getting so weary of what passes for "news media" in America.

(113,971 posts)into "bothsiderism" to an appalling degree. I've had a running conversation with the ombudsman over this, particularly re: Inskeep and a couple of others. Sometimes, they've even admitted problems (e.g., when they were normalizing White Nationalists and ALT-Right "leaders" like Richard Spencer). Clearly they, like some other outlets, are sensitive to criticism from conservatives, so that they grill Democratic and progressive guests to a degree we virtually never hear them do with the conservatives.
It is cyclical with improvement then backsliding and on and on... Still it beats anything else on FM radio.

Second, it beats me why conservatives call media outlets liberal, and liberals call the same outlets conservative. Truthfully, thats probably what a news organization ought to aim for.
I would love for the media to call trump a racist POS, but I dont need them to do that. I dont think most listeners do either. Most people are smart enough to see the truth, although a lot dont care. Used to love Air America, but truthfully most of us dont need that to filter through the BS.
In any event, NPR does some interesting stories that others dont touch.

(54,770 posts)viewers are not as smart as us and cant see the truth. I think most can, some just dont care in the case of trump, etc.

(40,691 posts)It's the only radio I listen to but the corporate leanings and occasional aimless seeking of a "middle ground" between good and overtly evil frequently irritates me. Sometimes I feel like I'm paying them simply to keep the frequency clear of "Christian" radio.
Radio and television news and "news talk" are worthless to me. I ignore all of it. Our television plays DVDs and Netflix. That's all it does. No cable, no satellite, no broadcast. My kitchen radio is tuned to our local NPR station, but I don't listen to news shows.
I read all my news.

(7,142 posts)I need my fix of 100% progressive left wing media from Sirius radio. I need to hear broadcasters say, Fuck Trump and the horse he rode in on. As long as they tell the truth I'm a Sirius junkie.

(18,402 posts)Less headache-inducing than the cables, but more important, it covers world news far better, plus interesting in-depth reports on issues, not just political in nature, but also science and the arts and literature.
NPR was good today (I don't listen regularly, but I was doing household chores so turned it on): a full-length interview with Cory Booker that was excellent, and .... Randy Rainbow interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air! (a in-depth one).
