Emma Thompson's portrayal is too spot on for the current political climate.

(5,995 posts)That's from the IMDB site for the show: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8694364/
Starts off with now then jumps ahead 5 years to a very dystopian near future, essentially the Trumpian nightmare that follows. Lots of shots at Brexit, etc., but not a damn thing funny about any of it.
Has the feel of an extended Black Mirror, but the writer/creator has a Dr. Who background.

(24,486 posts)and I have literally tried for decades to get into Dr. Who and have never been able to do it.
Yeah, a Trumpian nightmare, that's just what I'm looking for in entertainment.

(60,175 posts)Emma thompson's portrayal of a ditzy politician is excellent. We see her rise in politics over a span of years until she becomes....well, ya gotta see it.
The events of an increasingly trump world are seen thru the eyes of one family, over a period of time.
Very well done film.

(17,057 posts)It seems like a frightening forecast of future chaos. Much of it stirred up by dRump.

(5,995 posts)We use HBO Now, their stand-alone streaming service, and all the episodes are there to binge. That's how we watched 7 seasons of GoT before the last season.
HBO also has a streaming version for folks that already subscribe via cable on a smart tv or streaming device. Might be available if your service has an On-Demand option.

(24,486 posts)Everybody's taste is different. I knew when I began skipping forward it was a no-go. I watch tv for entertainment and to escape real life because real life is what I see and read everyday online and view on tv.

(3,894 posts)I realize this thread is rather old, but Im hoping someone can enlighten me. I watched Y&Y twice and obviously liked it. But now Im confused by the plot line of the Ukrainian refugee who fled to escape punishment, perhaps death, because of his homosexuality.
Do you happen to know if Ukraine is still (or ever was) anti-LGBTQ? Ive tried to research but cant find anything definitive.
Thank you.
