Should I go back to where I came from?
Which would be Texas.

(8,747 posts)You do know a lot of Texans are working to turn this state blue, right?
If that is not good enough for you, well then ..
Bless your little heart!!!!!

(102,509 posts)of such disagreement and criticism with anti-semitism. I feel certain the former is the majority opinion in the US, yet American RW conservatives have been able to define it in terms to cudgel progressive opponents.

Something to consider; how do you feel when men tell women how they should (or shouldn't) respond to issues involving women? How does it feel when a man comes along and says, "women just aren't doing enough to combat sexism?"
Edit to add:
Every Jew I know whether Democrat or Republican was horrified to read the tweets issued by President Donald Trump on Sunday morning. Somehow finding a new low to sink to, Trump suggested that Democratic Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, all women of color, should go back to where they originally came from. (Three of them, of course, came from the same place where Trump did: the United States.)
And then it got worse: He connected his racist rant to Israel.
When will the Radical Left Congresswomen apologize to our Country, the people of Israel and even to the Office of the President, he raged at 6:45 Monday morning. I can tell you that they have made Israel feel abandoned by the U.S. (He has since mentioned Israel in the context of his targets alleged hatred for it eight more times.)
The claim that Israel feels abandoned is, of course, nonsense; the people of Israel havent the faintest idea who Ilhan Omar is. But roping Israel into his rant wasnt random; it was Trumps intended endgame from the get-go, and just the latest reminder for Jews that our concerns and our existence have been reduced to a rhetorical tool in a larger political battle.
Trump, who has a knack for ferreting out other peoples vulnerabilities and pressing on them, spotted what must have looked like an unmissable opportunity in House Speaker Nancy Pelosis recent feud with the four congresswomen, known as the Squad. And he kept at it: First, he tried to enlist Pelosi in the ugly suggestion that the four congresswomen go back: Im sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements! Then, when Democrats (including Pelosi herself) predictably rallied behind Trumps targets, he made that part of his attack: So sad to see the Democrats sticking up for people who speak so badly of our Country.

(102,509 posts)who complain that they aren't 'jack-booted feminists' and fail to join the fight on choice, equal pay and related issues--all the while they take advantage of the gains those of use who fought have achieved. If a feminist-supportive male criticized on the same issue, I'd agree with him as well.
Ditto, I criticize those liberal Christians and their leadership who fail to take on the hypocrisy of the "religious RW fundamentalists" and allow the RW to appropriate "Christianity" for their own means.
Ditto, I criticize fellow progressives who complain about everything the Democratic party has done the past several decades, though they do not lift a finger to become active nor to move from their apathy.
So, yes, I follow my own lead and there is no rank hypocrisy in what I am saying.

(54,052 posts)There are any number of Jews who are speaking out and have been for decades about the conflation. What is not helpful, and downright insulting, is telling Jews how we should act.
hlthe2b
(102,509 posts)You seem desperate to be insulted. I did not do so, nor did I have any intention nor desire to do so, but if that is what you need to 'feel', then so be it. I am able to examine issues within my own "groups" that are subject to criticism, you seemingly don't feel that translates to those areas that touch you. Ok.

How long till the AIPAC conference? March 1-3, 2020. Trump will pull out every stop in that speech. So will the Dem nominee if she knows what's good for her.
Don't cross AIPAC!

(11,411 posts)well this has been around for so long that ... I'm not even sure the political establishment knows HOW to move the goal posts. Just a thought here .. Trump might have actually done this whole topic of conflation a favor, by tying his piggish and habitually belligerent behavior in with the issue. In deliberately alienating the rest of the world (Jerusalem embassy, Iran nukes, Kushner peace plan) without any policy or diplomatic objective at all, he has made this country's long standing unquestioned support .. a subject that is much more open to question? Perhaps?

There's a second part to my post. I left when I was nine. Didn't rep Omar leave Somalia when she was ten? The point is that neither she nor I had much say in where we were born or grew up.

(5,553 posts)I've pissed a number of people off by stating Israel should never turn the Gohlan over to Syria, my reasons are simple. Three times Syria has attacked Israel and every time those attacks have begun with shelling fronm the Heights, since Israel has held that territory there have been no attacks by Syria, it is simply a common sense defensive move.
