Trump is now dangerously unhinged. Really time to put impeachment articles out there.

Nancy, don't wait until it's too late.

Ever. We just need to accept that there isn't anything he can do that would cause the house to open an Impeachment investigation.

He really could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not face any consequences.

apparently laws aren't really a thing anymore, nor is impeachment or even oversight*.

*If a Democrat is in the White House, all laws apply, investigations will be continuous , and oversight will involve micromanaging every aspect of said president's life from the color of clothing to which condiments are allowed on food items.

This is true. Unfortunately what we are seeing is that American democracy like many other Western democracies, carries the seeds of its own demise within it.

It was always a risk from Day 1 - we assumed that we would always have a President that at some level felt responsible to protect our Constitution. We never expected that anyone like Donald Trump could be elected.

Now we are seeing the chinks in the armour of our system, from the abuse of Executive power to the weakness of a Supreme court packed with biased judges that will be there for a lifetime.

Bring Articles of Impeachment and spend 16 months bringing up everything they can find against him and others impeach the others but not him. Or they can do nothing and give back the House in 2020 which will be the last federal elections we have.

Even if impeachment proceedings were brought today that would drag on for years, surely well after the 2020 election and maybe even past 2024 assuming he is re-elected.

Maybe if the current investigations bring incontrovertible evidence - even then, it would give the neo-fascist Right material to use for decades to come to push their agenda.
