Democrats in Virginia's state legislature are vowing to boycott a ceremony in Jamestown later this month celebrating the 400th anniversary of representative government in the country if President Trump attends the event.
The leaders of the Virginia House and Senate Democratic caucuses issued a statement Friday night slamming Trump and maintaining they may not note show up amid reports that the president was expected to attend the commemorative session.
"We will not be attending any part of the commemorative session where Donald Trump is in attendance. The current President does not represent the values that we would celebrate at the 400th anniversary of the oldest democratic body in the western world," the Democrats said.
We offer just three words of advice to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation: Send Him Back, added the statement from Virginia Senate Democratic Leader Dick Saslaw and caucus Chairwoman Mamie Locke along with House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn and caucus Chairwoman Charniele Herring.

(3,471 posts)...to hades. You know the adage -if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything--so...
Awhile back, I stumbled on a simple way of living a healthy peaceful life that stems from an ancient religion [ Zoroastrian] belief that daily practice of good will bring one happiness: good thoughts, good words, good deeds.
Honestly, I was going just fine--say...up until Nov 8 2016 when HClinton would (should have won) win presidency; continue leading our country forward--then an unfathomable nightmare occurred...wtf!!! Aye dios (omg) see how quickly I regress..ok going to take my dog for walk and try to refocus. Paz.

(9,426 posts)He was banished for refusing to join the military to defend the country. Just like little Donnie! So, grandpa went to Canada and opened brothels. He really should have been banned from entering the USA for that alone, but unfortunately THIS is what we are now stuck with.

(17,506 posts)Some GOP president could easily commute Trump's sentence or pardon him completely.
The worst punishment would be to live in a society where he is completely ignored by everyone else as if he didn't even exist. It is an exquisite sentence for someone who cannot live without attention.

(14,272 posts)He wants to be a-list/rock star famous and have people clammer for his attention. He resents others who are and do not accept him as though he is at least equally famous. In his mind he deserves it and is entitled to it and nothing sets him off faster than not being treated as he feels he craves.
So good. I would be happy to see him exiled to some unglamorous place where no-one there gave a rat's ass about him and his phone was taken from him. He would shrivel like a raison.

(1,967 posts)Ive been saying, forever, the media and civil society should simply ignore him.
Any time he is the featured story about HIM he loves it. It is his oxygen. He stole the election and should be treated as a criminal. Page 22, near the obituaries, no more headlines.

(6,486 posts)Folks in western Virginia, between Richmond and Hot Springs, organized and are making a tremendous fight against this awful project. I was greatly impressed when I was in Va. a couple years ago and met some of them. They are the reason the ACP is halted right now, but I fear they are delaying the inevitable. When Terry McAuliffe was governor, he totally supported Dominion and the ACP and totally disregarded the people who would be affected by the pipeline.
