Because Mueller didn't attack and didn't recommend impeachment himself. They say Trump and his supporters are pleased as punch post testimony. I mean FOR REAL??
I shouldn't have expected anything else.

(115,407 posts)It happened with MSNBC also.
They were more into "optics" than the facts that were presented.

(54,770 posts)Mueller's report pretty much let trump and the campaign off the hook for conspiracy/cooperation/collusion with Russians.
However, the Hearing made it clear -- with Mueller's agreement -- that trump and the campaign were unethical, immoral, and very possibly criminal.
It was already clear that Mueller didn't let trump off hook for Obstruction, but the Hearing amplified that.
Perhaps better, Mueller made it clear the Ruskies are still doing this chit and trump is doing nothing about it, even joking about it.
I doubt many more people will scream for impeachment, but I was impressed, particularly with Schiff's opening and closing, and the general preparedness of Democrats.
AGREE with your thoughts here!

(62,683 posts)No matter what Mueller would have said, no matter what new stuff would have come out, it wouldn't change anything.
Everybody knows the truth, but some will continue to lie to themselves (and others).
Nothing will bring this guy down except for us getting a Dem in the WH in 2020.

(2,253 posts)Years, and years from now, this won't be a 'win' for trump.
But, as far as today goes...yeah, it's a 'win' for him.
Nothing came out in the testimony that wasn't already in the report. It's not going to cause impeachment proceedings to happen. It's not really going to cause anything to happen.......except for some people to think Democrats are beating a dead horse.
This was a bad idea.

(25,111 posts)My opinion.

(2,253 posts)I think that a week from now, two weeks from now, three weeks from now, public polling will show that Mueller's testimony before congress made absolutely no difference at all (unless it actually garnered more support for trump).
I think in the long run, history will tell a different story. But as for now...this is a win for trump

(7,947 posts)Nothing was actually positive for him at all. There were a lot of negatives, but nothing that said, "Trump is good" in any way.
What soundbite are they going to use?
Because it's all in the bites, as we know.
Captain Stern
(2,253 posts)trump didn't instigate the hearing, he didn't demand it, he was pretty much just playing defense.
If nothing that comes out of this catches on with the public, that's a 'win' for him.
He can just say 'see, I told you so',

(35,075 posts)which in America is always repugs. Repugs have no problem pushing forward their narrative and shaping public opinion, even when their arguments are based on treason, lies and spin. For some reason, elected democrats are unable to coordinate and consistently promote our talking points, even though the truth is on our side.
Second, you have democratic leaning pundits who are frustrated with what they see (or don't see), but instead of doing their jobs and presenting the public with the full information, they're airing their personal grievances with democrats live on air, which feeds into the cycle of continuous bad coverage for us.
To avoid getting even more upset, I tuned out of the hearing a couple hours ago. It's just not worth the headache. The ball is once again in Nancy's court. None of today's drama was required to start the impeachment inquiry and I hate that democrats spent the past couple years waiting for Mueller, and were STILL waiting for Mueller even after the report.
The report is done. The testimony is nearly done. The information is available. Time to act.
