Today we have seen an "escalation" and "crossed a threshold" to an impeachment inquiry.
According to today's Judiciary Committee press conference, the court filings today for access to grand jury material and the actions coming for Don McGahn next week are an escalation in the committee's investigation of presidential malfeasance etc.
The c-span video at this link is 2 and 1/2 minutes of the end of the press conference and Representative Sheila Jackson Lee makes a very good summary of the status today of the road to impeachment.
