opinion, this statement will turn away about 25 percent of his former supporters. Trump will move down to the 30 percent level. If he was at 40 then he will go down to 30. Why? ...Those that "move away" were on the border for a while. Not sure or questioning some of his statements or actions. But for some, this will be it. I feel this is part of the well-known fascist technique of dividing the populace and this one certainly furthers that goal.

In this case it's the shock-and-awe denigration of a large blue city to further deepen resentment in his white rural and suburbanite base. Here, he gets a double-whammy that is both culturally and racially dividing in nature.
