Trump is a white corporatist. Imagine if Obama had tweeted such racist comments.

Rules on Twitter are for the little people. I say all this as a southern white male.

Twitter could send a huge message to the world, not only about racism but also about following rules, if it would ban him!

White corporatists had better find a spine, soon, and I join you, as a white male, in saying this.
Dorsey and Zuck bear large responsibility for the state of the “union”.

https://washingtonmonthly.com/2019/04/25/twitter-cant-ban-racism-because-theyd-have-to-ban-republicans-too/

In this case, we have something tangible that we can explore. The difficulty of banning white nationalist hate rhetoric from Twitter stems directly from the fact that it would be politically divisive and therefore problematic for the company. The divisiveness doesn’t primarily derive from limitations on free speech. While some people are obviously sympathetic to the ideology and actions of ISIS, the number is too small to create a significant backlash when their content is banned. Likewise, relatively few people are supportive of Nazis and Klansmen, and their content would not be missed if it were suddenly absent. The divisiveness in this case arises from the fact that the subjects of the ban have political power.

Any move that could be perceived as being anti-Republican is likely to stir backlash against the company, which has been criticized by President Trump and other prominent Republicans for having an “anti-conservative bias.”

What this means is that everyone is subjected to hate speech on Twitter solely because there are Republicans who engage in hate speech.

Oh, and because Dorsey likes being a billionaire. Banning hate speech would seriously affect the bottom line.

If they kicked him off they would risk boycotts, an angry tirade from him, and terrible press from the media who loves making people the bad guy.

The only way to reach Twitter is for us all to stop using it. I've never used it and I suggest everyone else not use it as well.

I've never had a Twitter account, either.

But, if Twitter ever banned Trump, he'd probably have no problem getting someone to launch a right-wing social media app that he could herd his supporters over to. Clearly, Twitter is worried about that possibility.

Otherwise hate speech is protected by the First Amendment. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/06/19/supreme-court-unanimously-reaffirms-there-is-no-hate-speech-exception-to-the-first-amendment/?utm_term=.f94afb9dde9b

[The idea that the government may restrict] speech expressing ideas that offend … strikes at the heart of the First Amendment. Speech that demeans on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, disability, or any other similar ground is hateful; but the proudest boast of our free speech jurisprudence is that we protect the freedom to express “the thought that we hate.”
.....

A law found to discriminate based on viewpoint is an “egregious form of content discrimination,” which is “presumptively unconstitutional.” … A law that can be directed against speech found offensive to some portion of the public can be turned against minority and dissenting views to the detriment of all. The First Amendment does not entrust that power to the government’s benevolence. Instead, our reliance must be on the substantial safeguards of free and open discussion in a democratic society.

Fomenting rebellion against the government might be considered hate speech. Sedition and all that.

The Alien and Sedition Acts deserve a read in the Trump era. It was about immigration, deportation, voting restrictions.

Trouble is here we have the overthrow of the government from within.
