Especially in parts of west TN where not just hospitals but EMS services are going under. There was an interesting article in the Tennesseean recently that addressed the issues and republican lawmakers just can't see that they cut off their noses with refusing expansion. Even now, there is a large contingent who are pushing for MORE privatization and for profit involvement in healthcare.

8. These people voted rump in/or their state governments in...and also, rural vs. urban, ...

the economics of operating a hospital or like is getting to the point it is not profitable in rural areas, thus if you choose to live in a rural area, chances are (IMHO) greater that you'll die from lack of timely health care...

I'd like to see what these people will do, when they finally realize the scope and magnitude of what they have to do, in order to bring medical services to their communities.

13. If only republicans could come up with ideas that actually helped people.

But they clearly aren't that interested in coming up with solutions that actually worked. This op is just one more example of the effect republicans have across the country. They prefer to be opportunistic any chance they get just to do what's in the narrow interests of the wealthy. Their great success story is the incredible income inequality in the US. That is their legacy.

They have had power for 40 years, even through Democratic presidents and an occasional Democratic congress, pushing conservative ideology in our culture and laws and they have shit to show for it.

  • Exploded deficits? Republicans.

  • More and more government infringement on our privacy? Republicans.

  • Mass shootings and ever more gun violence? Republicans.

  • Tax cuts for the least needy among us? Republicans.

  • Deteriorating public schools? Republicans.

  • No action on climate change? Republicans.

  • Ineffectual regulatory agencies? Republicans.

  • Deteriorating infrastructure? Republicans.

  • A series of endless wars using an over-priced, wasteful military complex? Republicans.

  • Exorbitant healthcare costs? Republicans.

  • Media more concerned about ratings than honest news? Republicans.

  • A 24x7 hate-filled propaganda network? Republicans?

  • AM trash-talk radio? Republicans.

  • The rise again of overt racism? Republicans.

  • The ugly resurrection of Nazis? Republicans.

Classism, classism, classism...all the direct result of republicans pushing their bankrupt ideology onto our culture. The modern republican party is an abject failure because, while they can talk a good game, they have no good ideas on how to run a country for its economic and social stability. Probably never even crosses their minds to consider such things.

The list of their failures over the last 40 years goes on and on. Why do so many Americans proudly say they are republicans? They are delusional about what their representatives are actually doing for them. They love the hate directed towards minorities, the poor and the homeless. How else can you explain their utter lack of concern and constant attacks on the programs that actually help people.

tRump and his ilk are lost causes but if the base doesn't wake up to the fact that their party is failing them, then they will sink into the dustbin of history as another sad tale of human ignorance and greed.
