Chick-fil-A named America's favorite fast food restaurant, dethroning In-N-Out.

In the United States, two hyphenated fast food joints have sat high upon the thrones of their regional kingdoms. In the West, In-N-Out reigned supreme. In the South, it was Chick-fil-A. Now, a survey has determined which cult favorite takes the crown nationwide. Chick-fil-A has been officially named America's favorite fast-food restaurant.

A recent report by Market Force, published by Food & Wine, polled 7,600 consumers about their satisfaction level with various chains, and Chick-fil-A ranked the highest, with a 79% "loyalty rating." In last year's Market Force report, In-N-Out was America's favorite for the second consecutive time.

No way in hell would I choose Chick File A over In-N-Out.

13. No, it doesn't have quotes

If you look on the bottom of In-n-Out's cups and containers you'll find a reference to a verse, such as John:23 (I made this one up). I suppose one could follow the link to the actual reference, but there are no actual quotes on their packaging.

And even if there were, that's their right as a privately-held company.

66. My wife likes Burgerville

But after the third time I had to send my meal back at as many locations, I'm somewhat reluctant.

The one good meal I got from them was a seasonal offering of a ham and cheese. I'd learned that the only way to get them to not put their Burgerville Sauce on my order (no matter how many times I'd asked them not to), is to order something that doesn't come with it in the first place.

68. Odd to hear this about them

I know they pay their employees a better wage than Mickey D's, etc. and provide health care coverage for them, so I figure that's how they attract a better quality of employee. I guess with unemployment down, fast food places are having trouble keeping good people.

84. What I found as a business person is that when one hires lower wage

employees, the hit or miss dynamic shifts, you get a lot more misses at the low wage end. Some people really will not work harder or smarter if you pay them more and provide good benefits, I learned that the hard way.

The best course for a business person is to background check the hell out of job applicants. Once a good one is found, raise the starting pay if needed to get that person hired. Once a strong staff is in place, make sure that their pay, benefits and work environment can't easily be matched.

69. I've been to Burgerville 3 times. Once was at PDX. They had run out

of small buns and upgraded me to a larger burger for no charge. It was great burger. Last summer I hit the drive-thru at the their restaurant on 185th Ave in Aloha to try a Marion Berry shake. I ordered a Tillamook cheese burger with it. The shake was great but the burger was gamey and unedible and I threw it away.

I did repeat at that same restaurant about two weeks ago .They were offering raspberry shakes. Again, the burger was gamey and inedible.

I won't go back there.

85. What is a gamey burger? Was the meat spoiled?

They may lightly dry-age their beef and if that process is not done properly, the burger will suck. If dry-aging is done right, you will never eat a more delicious burger.

At least the people at the top don't. But their children know gay, lesbian, trans, etc. people, and when they replace their elders after death, they won't have their heads so far up their asses.

Come up with a case of a single sexual minority killed because of some stupid-ass thing that one of the Cathy family said or did. They're dinosaurs, and they're about to go extinct, good riddance to them all.

Well, the drive through. Two lanes, pretty efficient, should have been a mad house, but people taking orders in the parking lot. Pay station at the back corner of the building for people with cash, or who wanted their card receipt. Two people outside taking the orders from the window, bringing to the cars.

Place was run like a pit lane in at a race track.

Politics aside, CFA arguably makes the best fast food chicken sandwiches and nuggets in the business (Popeye's for bone-in and strips, IMO), and their customer service is incomparable.

I've heard the busiest CFA in the world is the five-story behemoth in the Financial District in NYC; I guess politics take a backseat to tasty food.

Have you had their food to be able to describe it as "shitty"? I've always found the chicken in the sandwich to be crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside, and thick enough to make a satisfying meal.

Or do you just assume it's "shitty" because of something a dead man said years ago?

30. It's no guess! In-N-Out is only in 6 states.

344 stores in CA, AZ, UT, NV, OR and Texas.

By contrast, Chick-fil-A has 2363 stores in 47 states.

They are a giant compared to In-N-Out. So the mere fact that a relatively small, completely company owned (In-N-Out does not franchise, Chick-fil-A does) regional chain came in second in a nationwide survey says something.

Personally I think In-N-Out has the best fast food hamburger out there, particularly for the price. Many compare it to Five Guys, but they are WAY more expensive for a similar product.

And FWIW, If I have ever been in a Chick-fil-A it's been decades, as I can't remember where or when.

It was comparing people who liked various chains.

That took chain size out of the equation. If you're big enough to be included as a chain (so eliminating a "chain" lilke JAX, with a total of 9 outlets all in one relatively small area), size doesn't matter.

54. No it doesn't

Reading the link explained that it was based on a Customer Loyalty index. Most likely means "How likely are you to return and/or recommend to your friends ?"

Size of the chain is not relevant evidenced by the fact that In n Out was the winner last year.

For the record, we love Chick Fil A although there are none in my area, so we can only stop when traveling. Their customer service is top notch and something many other businesses could learn from.

33. I ate at a Chick-fil-A

several decades ago and didn't like it. I've never bothered to go to another one.

And I'm pretty sure I've never been to an In-and-Out place because I don't think I've ever lived where they are.

Any survey of best fast food restaurants is going to be necessarily restricted to those people who eat at them. I very rarely do. I occasionally indulge in a fish filet at McDonald's no cheese (I mean really, cheese on a fish sandwich? That could only have been dreamed up by someone who never ate fish in the first place and saw it as a simple alternative to a burger)extra tartar sauce and fries. Maybe once every six months. Or every three years. Something like that.

In my younger days I ate fast food more often. I wasn't very inclined to cook, and honestly wasn't a very good one, didn't know a lot of the basics. Over the years I've learned a lot, and I'm a decent cook and have learned that it simply doesn't take that long to cook from scratch. But sometimes I like to let someone else do the cooking. Lucky me, I can afford to do so reasonably often.

34. Soon after aggressively expanding fast food franchises come to our city they collapse.

Everybody thinks they are going to be the next McDonalds, but McDonalds is always the next McDonalds.

58. I can make fast food too, all I need is a pan ,a thin slice of chicken, a roll or two slces of bread

and butter or olive oil to cook with. Takes 5 minutes if chicken is thin. Takes longer to wait in line in a fast food place and you have to get there first.

67. I thought both these chains were regional?

Seems like saying they are "America's favorite fast food restaurants" is a bit disingenuous when it is leaving out the opinions of entire regions of the nation.

49. They pay $12 - $15 an hr for non mgt and have benefits

The food is too salty for me .. I am not a fan. But the place is clean, the service is good and they pay better than the rest of the fast food joints near me. A friend and I meet there once a month to visit. Usually we just get something to drink.

The politics of the CEO don't have anything to do with the locals. In fact, the owner of my local is openly gay.

The drive-thru line is wrapped around the building nearly twice and the walk-in line is out the door.

Their food is fantastic.

And the customer service is simply top-notch.

All other establishments should follow their lead.

77. I have a hard time believing it would be any chicken place. Are they just everywhere and

doing it on volume? If it counts all the college food courts and everything, that might be how they're doing it. Especially with all the competition from supermarket deli's.

78. All politics aside, I don't understand the excitement about them.

They make average chicken sandwiches which are slightly overpriced.

Not terrible, but honestly Iíd rather even a McDonaldís and KFC over a Chik Fil A.

Favorite fast food chain for me is probably Five Guys. Those are good burgers.

I also enjoy the burritos at Moeís, with the tomatillo salsa for their chips.

the lettuce hadn't been washed properly. I truly don't understand what all the fuss is about. Years ago I had a chicken salad sandwich that was OK, and the fries were nothing to write home about. But yes, the young woman taking my order was nice and polite.
