(36,289 posts)The scene in Dayton, with several cops regularly patrolling in the vicinity, was about the best possible scenario for a GGWAG to stop the BGWAG. In that best case, nine people died. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
The ONLY thing that will help is when BGWNGs are the rule, not the exception.

(12,509 posts)When watching him say that he would smirk and giggle to himself. Connecticut boy thought he was a cowboy. It was pathetic.
Where is he now? Still painting water colors in the shower chugging Jim Beam?
Probably nursing his schoolboy crush on Michelle Obama.

(7,300 posts)Lots of tough talk and no tough actions. I lived in San Antonio, Dallas, Amarillo and El Paso for a total of about 30 years and my surviving son still lives there and agrees.
Everything is bigger in Texas including the piles of bullshit.

(31,261 posts)The little pipsqueak guys with ten-gallon hats and cowboy boots on climbing down out of a big-assed pickup truck was legion.
Why do you think pickups now have the retractable steppies on them? Because little men like the above rush to buy the biggest possible truck.

The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun?
Not so.
In fact, let's amend that: A good guy with a gun just confuses first responders because then they don't know who the bad guy with the gun is.

(73 posts)if you are flailing a gun around, they will either arrest you or shoot you. And it may take a long time for them to be convinced you weren't one of the bad guys.

I have weapons at home myself but after these last two mass shootings, something in the wind smells different re: doing something about this horror.

You certainly seem to be able to do so in Phoenix.
The notion that only someone w/a concealed weapon could've 'done something' ... seems erroneous, unless TX is more strict with open-carry than AZ.

And the cops will probably wind up shooting the "good guy."
The friendly fire possibilities with multiple good guys + cops is limitless.
