https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2019/08/09/family-month-old-el-paso-orphan-said-they-wanted-share-their-pain-with-trump/Anchondo, who lost his beloved brother and sister-in-law in the rampage outside an El Paso Walmart on Saturday, said he chose to take his orphaned nephew to University Medical Center of El Paso on Wednesday to meet the president and first lady. The 2-month-old suffered two broken fingers in the shooting but survived after his parents, Andre and Jordan Anchondo, shielded him from the gunfire and were slain themselves.
Tito Anchondo said he wanted to meet the president to tell him about his familys grievous pain. He was just there as a human being, consoling us and giving his condolences, he said about Trump in an interview outside his familys auto-body shop in south-central El Paso.
...
But Anchondo strongly rejects that view of the shootings and said he did not want the photo to be seen through a political lens. Anchondo previously told NPR that his family is Republican and his murdered brother had supported Trump.
The president wasnt there to be pushing any kind of political agenda, he said, describing a private conversation between human beings.
Its like no one understands the true character and drive of the Impeachable One. Have they not paid attention to his narcissism over the last three years??
He doesnt give a flying fuck about anyones feelings at all. Just at how he comes off in the media.
Then again, the babys parents were supporters of the grifter

(15,031 posts)instead of having the family bring the child to him? That would have been the compassionate, human thing to do, especially as the child was (I believe) one of only two El Paso survivors to meet with Diaper Don, and is recovering from trauma and broken fingers.

(33,643 posts)The ones who came here and 'did things right' don't like the heat being brought down around them by people who are 'doing things wrong'. They also compete for their jobs, often even more directly than the average Caucasian.
Additionally, most Latino's are religious and very family-oriented. Catholic, specifically. GOP ropes 'em in with their pro-family, anti-choice and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.
As such, it's NOT that unfathomable to me. Many people's first allegiance isn't to their own race/ethnicity above all else. And that's not necessarily a bad thing when considered across the world population.
JMHO, YMMV.
