I Thought Mexican President Obrador...

leaned heavily to the left who immensely disliked Trump..
and yet today announced that he was not going to allow Guatemala immigrants to cross into Mexico (Something which Trump demanded) in order to flee the violence and danger of their country....

I just don't get it.. i was so freaking happy when he won the election.. Does anyone else remember when he lost the election to I think Fox back years ago? I was so upset..

Yep... Another piece of bad news today..

These asylum seekers are bringing on huge headaches with the Trump-led US government is the sad reality.

Unfortunately, when the USA says jump ... Mexico's leaders don't have a huge amount of choice in the matter, left-leaning or not. If their economy get screwed by the strong-arm of the USA, they're not getting re-elected.

We have no idea what kind of threats of economic action have been secretly passed on the Mexican government. Mexico, unlike China, has very little leverage with which to retaliate.

Mexico is a seriously weak country economically. The national oil company is deep in debt, so it can't contribute to state finances, in fact, it is now a drain on state finances.

Past Presidents of Mexico, including Viscente Fox, whom many on DU admire, allowed plundering of the country by the elites. Those presidents did little to nothing to improve the deplorable lot of indigenous Mexicans, who make up pretty much all of Mexican undocumented immigration into the US. White skinned Mexicans are doing and always have done well in that country and have little need to leave, they are the class that Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, come from.

So Obrador has an empty pantry to work with. Trump can successfully bully him.
