The benefits of growth accrue primarily to the top 1 percent and hardly at all to the bottom 90 percent. Trump was elected because of people's outrage with the system that made this happen and disenfranchised them (HRC was seen as part of the establishment that made it happen.)
But he has proven to be the most corrupt president ever--self-dealing & working to empower the richest and to plunder the country's assets on their behalf. He has taken advantage of campaign finance laws (and rulings like Citizens United) that have further empowered the powerful.

(14,781 posts)that excess profits that come out of our pockets (from purchases of goods and services) are turned against us via the support of right-wing governments around the globe, and to provide extreme largess for the ultra-wealthy - a practice our planet cannot support forever.
Further, that very wealth that we gave them seems to bring in a mindset that their wealth entitles them to more control than average citizens. In other words, power in proportion to wealth rather than in proportion to population.
(snip from article)
Such bullshit and deception. Taxing the wealthy actually is an element of capitalism because of the many, many ways governments provide support for capitalism.

(18,272 posts)Reagan and Margaret Thatcher made it popular. Every president since then has advocated it's virtues. Low taxes on the wealthy and on corporations, decreased regulations let the markets decide everything.
