petitioned against it. It doesn't take much to hang oneself. Get the gallows drop and the dangling feet out of one's mind. A lot of jail hanging are done in a sitting position where its only the victims behind that is actually off the ground. One is in fact strangled when this is done and bones do get broken.

There are videos of people committing suicide by strangling themselves by a ligature (a rolled up bedsheet, for example) tied to a doorknob.
