Blouse, rings and purse are the same. Taken within a short period of time and shopped.

(94,368 posts)It's the same person at the same time in the same place. The first photo was taken probably when she was first seen. The second photo was posed and she took off her glasses and pulled out a book. The two drink cups are in both photos, the woman in the rear is the same in both photos, the person off screen on the left is holding the same burger.

(130,760 posts)hair, skin (aged in first) differ. Photo-shopped/made up.

(8,661 posts)The editors might have eliminated a wrinkle or two to make her look better for more sales. However, just turning your head a slight angle can make all the difference in how your wrinkles appear. The second photo is a little lighter with more contrast - something editors would want to do in Photoshop for publication.

(62,444 posts)Since the first one is candid, the photographer would unlikely be using flash, if he thought she might bolt.
She's got the burger wrapper in her hands in the first one, clearly just took a bite and is maneuvering the food in her mouth to chew it.

Lots of differences in the background.
I have no idea what this thread is about however.

(16,254 posts)The second is from a different angle. We all have a good angle and a bad one. The 2nd is her good angle.

(21,841 posts)The woman in the top photo looks to be in her 60s. Maxwell is a well-kept 50 something.
I don't believe that a woman raised in Europe and known to be wanted at least for questioning would hang out at a burger joint in Los Angeles.

(16,884 posts)Their burgers are fantastic and the shakes are too...
Your assumptions are way off... I even know the secret non-published menu.
I look awful if caught off guard and a photo snapped - especially from side or taken from below. But I have pose where I tilt my gaze in one direction and smile just so and I look 10 years younger. Every 50ish plus woman knows that.
And especially when I just had a few Dysport injections in the forehead that relax it and fill worry lines...

(12,712 posts)Not that it makes a big difference, but I have used Photoshop professionally for many years.
The body and scenes are the same, but the face has been placed and there are several factors that indicate that. It was a good job, too, but the lighting on the second face is a little out of context.

(51,569 posts)First of all in one she is EATING and READING A BOOK. Every person on the planet looks different when they are moving, especially all the facial muscles involved in the process of eating and chewing. She has glasses on too, which people do when they read and always alter a person's appearance. When she was photographed when she was still, and not eating and facing the camera she looks different since ALL people do! I drew live models for years and years in Art School and took tons of photos too and the whole idea that this particular photo is photoshopped based on "see any difference" is ridiculous.
womanofthehills
(8,661 posts)I enlarged it in Photoshop and it looks real enough to me.

(51,569 posts)Next someone will photoshop Bill Clinton on it instead of Bob the Cat. Maybe she will also get a Hitler mustache and a pirate eye patch. The first two weren't photoshopped.
leftyladyfrommo
(18,866 posts)That might be because it's taken from a different angle.
The white fence is gone in one. People are gone. Buildings are dufferent.

(51,569 posts)Look closely. It is the same...I have a sharp eye and compared and contrasted them. Same exact setting and time of day, slightly different angle is all.

(62,444 posts)And the second one uses fill-in flash.
Seems the first picture was an ambush, and she agreed to a second one.
One problem with still pictures is that by freezing moments, the context of an image of a moving subject is lost.
I guess we are supposed to think - from the question - that the first picture is of an older woman, and that the Post did some magic switheroo or something. But, really, why publish both photos if that was the case.
In the first pick, she's got what looks like it may be a burger wrapper in her hand (one of those In-N-Out hamburger sleeves), just took a bite and is chewing on it.
Nobody looks right when they've just taken a bite out of something and is chewing.
In the second one, it looks like she posed with the book out, and the photographer used fill-in flash.
Some time has lapsed, since the diners at the table in the back right have left and been replaced. The woman at back left is still there.
As far as the beverages go, the two cups are different colors. Is that a coffee and a water, as is common in Europe?

Sugar Smack
(18,748 posts)not a good look for anyone. In the 2nd one, she's doing a typical pose of a woman who's prepared for her picture to be taken. She's prepared herself my removing her glasses, a straight ahead look, and a subtle face-lift pull with the hand she's "resting" on.

(20,755 posts)Top photo is #1, bottom is #2
#1 has way less traffic. Angle of sun on the building with the two green awnings is quite different. Camera is about 18" further back from subject in foreground and angled slightly down as though photographer was standing.
#2 has more traffic in background, brighter reflection off windows under the green awnings. The guy in the purplish-blue t-shirt has joined the party at the table to the right behind foreground subject. Foreground subject has taken off glasses, placed an open book atop the phone, moved purse to the right of meal tray. Camera is closer and angled straight-on as though photographer has stooped a little.
What do I win?
interestedly,
Bright

It's very difficult to determine if something has been photo-shopped. Even professionals can be put to the task when trying to determine if something is fake or not.
