(21,646 posts)Mailander, the Omaha World Herald reported.
He was angry about another white Chevy truck that had been parked outside his home, even though it had been left on a public right of way. Mailander could also face far more serious felony charges if he is found to have caused more than $5,000 of damage to the white pickup and cement truck

i Read he knifed the tires of the white pick up truck

(23,715 posts)so he's going to get the repair bill for the cement mixer, a bill for the lost time because he ruined the concrete pour, ruined his own shoes and socks, probably going to be arrested and charged with something.
Because a truck had its wheel on his lawn
look... i get it............ i'd be pissed if someone did that too but at the same time, the truck is going to leave at some point and your lawn is going to be fine.
gotta know when to fight and when to let things go in life and this was a time to just let it go.

(10,293 posts)maybe even behind the sidewalk. He might mow and water that strip but my guess it is in the public ROW. Not only that but his property frontage is probably encumbered with at least a utility easement maybe a sidewalk easement too. He'll really be pissed when they have to dig up something.

It was my water keeping the land green, on the whim of the developer who originally built this place, but this neighbor was convinced he had dominion over thirty square feet of dirt and sidewalk.
It didn't matter how many times I told him the city owned it but I couldn't replant flowers there without him losing his shit, and when I offered he could plant his own flowers if he wanted to, that would made him even angrier.
This was the same guy who called the police when my kids and their friends, the oldest third graders, were drawing on the street and sidewalks with chalk.
I was so happy when he and his wife sold the house and moved away.

(10,293 posts)I'm a retired land surveyor. I've seen tons of squabbles with neighbors fighting over just a couple of tenths of a foot. That's a big deal in downtown BigCity, USA, but out in Suburbanville, USA? It just ain't worth it.
Glad things worked out in your neighborhood.

But I don't put much stock in such opinions. It seems to me there are regular shit-stirrers and there are those who are paid to magnify and elevate even the tiniest of petty differences to whatever ultimate shitstorm they can manage to create in an effort to thwart any semblance of teamwork.
Then you got regular ol' crazy like your neighbor and this guy.

(2,777 posts)And I can guarantee his property line is behind that walkway by a foot or more.
My brother owns a land surveying company and this is a constant argument with grouchy assholes like this guy. They think the lot pins are bullshit. Blah Blah
When getting shots out in the road, his crew are constantly harassed by people like this. They will swerve their car to act like they are going to hit them, middle fingers and verbal expletives. One of his crew was asked why they are surveying in the area. He said that an insane asylum is being built and they are surveying for this purpose. My brother had to fire him since the guy called the city raising hell
But you know, you get sick of hearing this shit....

(10,293 posts)I had a rodman once answer with "pressure sewer main" - that sent the questioner into a fit.
The best answer is a vague "I don't know, the office sent us out" or "we're just measuring a few things". Of course, most folks are just curious and will ask "Watcha surveying?", or "Are they widening the road?" In fact, that's kind of an inside joke when a surveyor comes across a crew they might know and they'll ask the same thing because every surveyor has heard it a thousand times.
There are psychos out there though and being set up in the middle of the road brings out the worst.

(2,777 posts)He has had some interesting surveys!
One was to find a pool that was buried on a parcel in Florida. The new owner had plats, but the information was very vague.
They found it as well as a few pictures from the 40's. It was a pool made from coquina shell.
When they hit it they were blown away

(10,293 posts)A little sleuthing reveals:
The recorded plat for that cranky kook's subdivision shows a 50' wide right-of-way. Google Earth shows a back of curb to back of curb width of +/-25. So the right-of-way line (his front property line) is +/-12.5' behind the back of curb or roughly 4.5' behind the back of that sidewalk.
He would really be pissed if surveyors came out and located his front property corners. Poor old fart - somebody has to be him.
Midnightwalk
(3,131 posts)He started off taking a knife to the trucks tires.
If the damage is more than $5000 it is a felony.
And the grass strip the truck had a wheel on is a public area.

(37,113 posts)Jackson said he wasnt sure who owned the truck. He later found out who the owner was, but it was a son visiting his mother who lived across the street. It had nothing to do with the workmen.
Mailander has been cited for a misdemeanor based on $500 to $1,500 in damage. If the damage is more than $1,500, he could be charged with a felony.

Notice how he was going to bust up the headlight of the actual truck but suddenly turns toward the work truck. He's pissed that's for sure. Totally speculation but from what I saw of the crew I think I know why he went after the cement mixer.

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?
I speculate this because he is casting aside any repercussion concerns for his actions. People in a normal state of mind generally don't do that kind of stuff, simply because normal people realize that they may end up in jail for acts like this.

My in laws live in a retirement community. In So Cal almost all landscape employees are hispanic. So summer of 2018 the crew handling the complex quits. They were taking too much abuse from the homeowners. One MAGAt lady walked out and slapped a crew member, told him to go back to Mexico. The owner had enough, pulled the crew. Sent a letter terminating the contract for cause. (I would guess he had documented the abuses and the Homeowners Association did squat)
Here is where it gets good, the President and VP of the HOA (MAGAts) had forced the company to do a lot of extras in their backyards. The owner had it all documented, walked away, AND dropped a million dollar law suit on the HOA. Last I heard, it was so well documented that the HOA was offering over 500k prior to anything going to court.
