Freshman Democratic Rep. Lauren Underwood on Tuesday endorsed an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, putting the issue in play as she seeks reelection in what has traditionally been a Republican suburban and exurban district.
Underwood, of Naperville, issued a statement on Twitter in which she said she has long supported the impeachment-related investigation led by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and other Democratic-led House panels.

Nadler has recently acknowledged that the committee is conducting formal impeachment proceedings, noting documents his panel has filed in federal court citing its role in recommending articles of impeachment.
Underwood said Nadlers court filing last month clearly states that the Judiciary Committee is investigating whether to recommend Articles of Impeachment, essentially an impeachment inquiry. I support this investigation.

(4,756 posts)The Republicans are going to throw everything including the kitchen sink into taking back this seat. She had no business winning this traditionally very red district but beat the incumbent quite comfortably in the 2018 Democratic wave. I still can't believe it. This is still a very red district but it has been very very slowly flirting with trending purple. She has a great organization and is very likable. I believe she will hold this seat.
