It's disgusting.
28 years later and I still haven't forgiven them.

And not long after that we learned that he had Alzheimer's Disease.
Kind of a pattern, don't you think?

(47,675 posts)If you couldn't see he was well progressed in Alzheimer's by then, you don't understand the disease. I've dealt with it on both sides of the family (mine and my wife's) and it's not a pretty thing. My grandmother had no clue who I was. My wife's mother ONLY knew who I was - not even her daughters or granddaughters. I'm not sure why. It's tough to lose someone while they're still alive, but they are still gone. He was gone in 1980 ("there you go again"
. He was more gone in '84, and to Mondale's credit, he didn't call him out on it. The poor moderator had to do it. "Mr. President. Mr. President. MR. PRESIDENT!" - "Um, yes?" - "Your time has expired."
I watched both debates.

But he went on to win, what, 49 states? So who's laughing at whom?

(47,675 posts)The actual vote count was totally off kilter with pre-vote polling and even the conservative analysts attributed it to the "why bother to vote if the other guy's already won" attitude that led so many to stay home.
Then again, he was running against a corps (who nonetheless managed to win his home state).
