Memos home for safe keeping rather than allowing the subject of the memos (who are detailed in Muellers report as having broken the law on the material contained in the memos) gaining custody of the memos so that they could complete their act of obstruction would be like (given Comey's previous improper criticism of Clinton on non legal grounds) . . .

9. The irony is Comey's letter got him elected. trump engenders nothing but chaos and confusion.

He fires the guy who got him elected for seeking redemption by investigating the incompetent chump he put in office. We've seen it for nearly three years now and it still doesn't make sense.
