Be gentle with one another

I am so sad, about two hours ago I received a call from a very dear friend of mine. I have sung with her at many funerals, weddings etc. Her son, 36 years old and has been plagued with the scourge of drug abuse and alcoholism, ended his life at 6:58 pm this evening.It was after his mom told him how disappointed she was in him. We wasn't sober during the call and after he hung up, he went into his bedroom and shot himself.

It is a stark horrible reminder to me to urge all of us to be gentle with each other. Specially in this nasty dog eat dog political climate that is seeping into our daily lives!!!

We had a love/hate relationship. I loved him and tried to help. He hated himself more.

I feel your pain. A co-worker I’ve known for more than 20 years just last Saturday night lost his youngest daughter - a 28 year old successful project engineer for Apple - to a drunk driver (in a stolen car) crashing into the Uber she was riding in after celebrating a project she had just gotten. She was going to be the first female lead engineer for next year’s iPhone. Her parents and sister are devastated, and I’ve been grieving with them ever since.

Be gentle, indeed.

Maybe not, because people kill themselves other than with guns. But guns make it oh, so easy.

8. A former high school classmate snd friend of my

daughter was depressed because at 23 he felt like he had no direction in life. He chose to solve his problems by picking up a gun. He was an only child who left behind a set of devastated parents and bewildered friends who didn't see it coming.

Yes, a little kindness, a little concern for someone who is hurting can go a long way and might even possibly save a life. Thank you for sharing.
