(15,682 posts)We have family there. I wasn't watching any news until just now. Last I knew (last night) it was on a northern projection and expected to miss Florida.

Lots of FL folks up here now. Heading back to the piedmont tomorrow morning. I think the coastal areas are going to get hit, and flood, right now the rest of the state seems to be OK in the current forecast.

(15,682 posts)who live in pretty solid homes in the Raleigh/Durham area. I never worry about them too much. But my sister is in Jacksonville. I don't really know the area other than it looks close to the coast on a map. I guess I should give her a call.

(1,207 posts)We live over 150 miles inland, but I'm still going to do the laundry, make sure the pets have plenty of food, etc. We missed two days of school last year thanks to a hurricane- this far inland.
The coastal flooding last year was a damned mess.

(11,017 posts)They keep saying to watch the updates. This storm is unprecedented and unpredictable. The path could be anywhere close to the "cone" shown on TV. Pay attention also to local news and warnings.
Best wishes to you and your family.
