The other prong is that being in the minority in the House is a horrible place to be for these self-styled masters of the universe. When you're in the minority, lobbyists don't come calling with satchels full of money. CNN and Fox News don't crave your deathless opinion on the issues of the day (they have a stable of opinion spouters, and guys like Flores aren't in it). You mostly just sit around and mope about how nice things were when you were in the majority and everyone had to do what you and your caucus said. Get out the door, let some mook from Plano (or wherever) take your seat, and see if you can't monetize your congressional career with a sinecure at some right wing welfare firm.
